To be annoyed by exessive "do not" signs and notices everywhere

I went to a private members club this evening and noticed an excess of signs. Within eye-view, there must have been 10 signs:

"security cameras in operation" - about 5 of these
"in accordance with health and safety, children are not permitted 1m from the bar"
"No billiards game to be played 15 minutes before closing"
"Don't stand here - bar serving area"
"No smoking"
"It is against the law to knowingly buy drinks for under-age guests"
"Don't drink and drive"
"Abuse of bar staff will not be tolerated"

I swear if aliens landed on earth, they would thing we were a bunch of imbeciles who had to be told what to do all the time.

I find these signs really offensive. We're paying customers and we're constantly being shouted at by ugly signs. Does it drive you crazy too!??

Peel your eyes next time you're in public. You might hoik your bosom too! :)

Babycham, I'm with you. Australia is the ultimate nanny state....I love it here but my god...I was invited to netball fundraising screening of a new film at an independent cinema. Film was 15+ but the rules were strictly no under 18's. Why? Because alcohol was being served. It's like they can't trust us to make sure our kids act responsibly.

My other worst faves are the constant announcements in Kmart/Target on the loudspeaker telling you not to let your children play on the carts....

Four Eyes.... the yacht club is seriously dire on the inside. It looks like a bingo hall with all the blinds closed to the beautiful view outside. It's a real old boys club complete with darts boards, pool tables and meat raffles. Funnily enough, it's full of Brits! :) I only joined because you can sit outside right on the ocean. It baffles me why anyone would sit inside.

I love/hate that road sign "Sign not in use"! It is on a motorway to and from the airport and whenever I come back to the UK it makes me feels at home. That and the signs all the way along the walking escalator telling you to look forwards. And the signs at the pasty shop telling you that the contents will be hot. Not to mention the directions of how to show your passport in the correct manner. All in a trip back from the airport.

I agree about Australia. I remember a couple of years ago they had signs outside of the pokies/vip rooms giving the odds of actually winning the jackpots. Those have disappeared. They were about the only useful signs.

I worked in a lab, with a lab manager who felt the need to write notes/signs constantly. One of my co-workers with wrote her own in retaliation "Writing notes is an ineffective form of communication". Loved it!

We are currently in China. Land of ridiculous laws, that few pay any attention to. Here's a beauty that was in the girls loo of the school ds attends. Chinese often squat to do the loo. There are often footprints on loo seats. Revolting.
Enjoy.

Not a sign as such, but my favourite label was in a t-shirt which said "wash when dirty" Grin
