AIBU?

AIBU regarding my DCs' cleanliness?

Following from a conversation I had with some friends this morning, who think I'm being OTT.

DC are 7 and 9, and have a shower each morning (hair wash at least twice weekly) and clean uniform/ordinary clothes every day. The shower gel and shampoo are very mild.

AIBU to think this is fine (both DH and I also shower and fresh clothes daily too) or is this just too clean?

Thanks.

Cannot be too clean.

I think the jury's out on that.

DD(5)'s face and bottom get washed every day but she only showers /baths twice a week. (There are these amazing things called flannels, and when used in conjunction with a bit of warm water they can achieve marvellous things. Wink)

Pants, tights/socks, polo shirt on every day, but twice a week she'll reuse her pinafore and cardigan.

That's fine. Mine shower and wash their hair five days a week and have fresh uniform every day.

My DC are 8 & 9. Bath or shower every night, hair wash twice weekly for DC1, once weekly for DC2 as it doesn't get greasy. Fresh clean uniform every day. I had assumed that was normal?!

I had assumed that was normal

Depends on what you define as normal.

Normal for some is everyday.
For some its every otherday.
For others its twice a week.

Normal for some kids is once a week because their parents cant afford more than one set of uniform, or dont have a washing machine, or cant afford the electric.

I only have 2 sets of uniform, that gets washed at the weekend.

I couldnt tell you which kids at school get clean uniform every day and which dont. Its not particularly anyones business, either. None of the kids smell or have flies buzzing around them.

DD is 6, bath every other day, hair wash once a week after swimming, no uniform but clean undies, tights and tops every day, skirts and jumpers as and when.

bath twice a week unless manky or gotten very hot and sticky. New set uniform every day as they cover everything in mud on a daily basis.

I think it is OTT to put on totally fresh clothing every day, esp the stuff that is not worn next to the skin.

Yeah, I don't put on a clean jumper every day. If I have a clean tshirt on underneath and haven't got it dirty then it gets work for 2 or 3 wears.

Normal is whatever you decide to do - no set rules.

Our normal, is bath every night before bed and clean uniform every day. Don't have any choice, as my DS plays football at playtime and lunch and comes home from school with mud all over his uniform.

Sounds fine. I have that age and aim for bath every night but with activities or general arsing around if we are running late it won't always happen. So maybe 5/7 nights?

Clean shirt, socks, underwear daily. Trousers and jumper only if needed.
