Now I know it's none of my business. I know people parent different and have different ways of looking at things.

Now, I'm all for parents having time away from their kids, kids having quality time with their grandparents etc

BUT

If you were planning a kid free long weekend away, just you and your DP, would you choose to go to DISNEY?

Woman in work did. Has only been with her DP for 3 months. Left her 5 year old DD at home with her nan and went to the place most kids dream of going. Wasn't a case of no money as she paid for the holiday.

I just couldn't do it. Barcelona or Florence, yes I probably could. Eurodisney, no.

Am I being too sensitive? pulls up judgy pants

Well I agree that's unfair for her daughter. Has her daughter been before though?

StealthPolarBear · 18/01/2016 18:07

It's odd :)

ghostyslovesheep · 18/01/2016 18:08

meh - not really any of your beeswax

gBean · 18/01/2016 18:08

What a pair of saddos!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 18/01/2016 18:11

Yes it's weird.

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 18/01/2016 18:12

Well, it's not anyone's beeswax really. However, in 'real life', I'd be judgy as well. I don't get adults who 'love' Disneyland as it is, especially those without kids (looking at you couple on my FB who married there). I guess it makes no difference really where you go for a break, but I'd personally feel quite bad going somewhere my kids would love without them.

Lindy2 · 18/01/2016 18:13

I know a couple who went to Disney. They went with another couple who took their children, whilst they left their own child at home with the grandparents.
I just thought how sad it was.

Grilledaubergines · 18/01/2016 18:13

Adults going to Disney without children I think is odd. Going with kids is hell. Going without, no less so.

Palomb · 18/01/2016 18:13

Agree with them being complete saddos

Funandgamesandfun · 18/01/2016 18:14

Never as Disney was painful enough with kids, it would be hell without them. I can think of about 5 million places I would prefer to go for a kid free break. You are right though, I wouldn't go somewhere I know my kids would love.

TheCatsMeow · 18/01/2016 18:15

It's not weird. I really like Disney and I could see me going on a holiday with a partner there. I wouldn't do it instead of taking DS but I'd do it as well as

OwlCurrency · 18/01/2016 18:15

I don't see what is wrong with it.

If she has only been with him a short time, it was more of a romantic holiday than a family holiday.

She doesn't have to change everything she likes just because she is a mum. Maybe she likes Disney a lot.

NHKX2 · 18/01/2016 18:16

It's odd, but it's their choice. I judge them more for choosing to have a romantic getaway to Disney than for leaving the DD at home! To each their own.

TheCatsMeow · 18/01/2016 18:16

What's not to get about liking Disney? I am a kid at heart and I love the rides, characters, the old Hollywood style studios, the street because it looks so gorgeous, ahhhh! I don't see why that's weird

RudeElf · 18/01/2016 18:16

I would love to go to disneyland. But i'm sure as shitting never going with kids. I'll take them when they are adults or near enough if they want to go. Or i'll go with friends. My mum took them a couple of years ago so they have had the experience.

Mybunnyisamummy · 18/01/2016 18:17

I know a couple who had their honeymoon there. Now that is seriously weird.

LeaLeander · 18/01/2016 18:18

Shrug. Disney is not my cup of tea but I don't subscribe to the notion that anything "fun" such as amusement parks, zoos, beach resorts, nature centers, Christmas, Halloween, etc. is automatically just/primarily for children. Why can't adults enjoy whimsy, fantasy, cute animals, folklore etc. just as well?

Five is quite young to endure a strenuous day at a major theme park. My sister and BIL took his (adult) kids and grandkids to Disney Florida for a week two years ago and all of them had the most miserable time; the kids were age 3, 5 and 7 and it was an expensive nightmare.

At any rate I see nothing wrong with the parks as a destination for a couple who enjoys them. The kid can be taken when she is older.

molyholy · 18/01/2016 18:20

We went to disney with dd where the queue's for everything were fucking ridiculous. We couldn't understand why the hell, adults would queue up for a minimum of 2 hours to get their picture took with somebody dressed up as Mickey Mouse. Very very odd.

cantgonofurther · 18/01/2016 18:20

I have been to Disney without my DC. My DC have been to Disney plenty of times though.

tomatodizzy · 18/01/2016 18:20

Judgy it may be but my judgy pants would be strangling me on that one. Two grown ups going to EuroDisney is weird. Don't get me wrong, I went to Disney before I had children but we were in Florida for other reasons, I would not personally pick a Disney holiday if I were childless or going childless. Bit odd.

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 18/01/2016 18:21

YANBU - I couldn't do it.

OwlCurrency · 18/01/2016 18:21

I agree that a five year old would be totally overwhelmed with Disney. It would be a very challenging holiday.

AutumnLeavesArePretty · 18/01/2016 18:22

Ditching her daughter for a new man is never good. Going away to a child based place and leaving her out is very selfish.

There are a lot who see nothing wrong with child free holidays but why bother having children in the first place?

OnlyLovers · 18/01/2016 18:23

I don't have an issue with them leaving their child to go to Disneyland per se, but I would judge an adult for wanting to go to Disneyland. But I realise that's my judgy pants.

TheCatsMeow · 18/01/2016 18:23

Autumn she isn't ditching the child she has gone away for a holiday. Are parents never allowed to spend time away from their kids?
