To be gobsmacked at local radio station

OK probably am BU to be surprised at the double standards shown by a local radio station that is probably run by a bunch of smashy and nicies but still........
current examples of censored songs that I've heard - Lily Allens song about a crap lover, the 'wet patch' line is bleeped, they won't play the second verse of Olivers Army because of the white n*er line, plus many others with dodgy or sweary lyrics - all fine really and understandable.

Apparently though this doesn't apply to derogatory words aimed at women - they've just played Gordon is a Moron with slag, slut and bitch completely unbleeped. This isn't the first time either - they routinely play the Pink song, Just Like a Pill and never, ever bleep the line about a nurse being a bitch.
There was no apology afterwards so this isn't a random mistake.
I'm just shocked I guess and feel the need to rant.

YANBU. Have you complained to them? Is it a bbc or commercial radio?

TamaraLamara · 17/01/2016 19:45

If they're beeping the wet patch bit out of Lily Allen but leaving slag, slut and bitch intact in other songs it sounds like their policy is managed by monkeys. I'd ask them to clarify the reason for the double standard.

It's a commercial channel and although, not usually one to complain, I am going to contact them about this. It's always bugged me whenever I heard the Pink song, this just took the biscuit.

I hate that sort of censorship - it draws even more attention to the swearword...!

hiddenhome2 · 17/01/2016 21:16

The 'wet patch' line criticises men and we can't be 'avin' any of that now can we?

Complain.

BastardGoDarkly · 17/01/2016 21:16

Is it anything to do with the times you've heard the songs being played?

Do radio have a watershed? Hmm

carryonmywaywardson · 17/01/2016 21:17

My local radio station play eminem but blank the swear words so then there's not really much singing going on, don't understand why they Wont just not play his songs Hmm

jaketweeneyistooadvancedfor2 · 17/01/2016 21:49

No Bastard, can't be a watershed type situation - I've heard the Pink song umpteen times during the day and tonight, Gordon is a Moron was at about half six.
I'm just really shocked - DH walked past the kitchen when it was playing and even he said jesus was that the uncut version and he never notices anything.
I am going to contact them - they don't appear to have a general contact us type email, so tomorrow I'll either write them a letter or send an email through to sales and hope it gets passed on.
