Re my fridge settings?

Or rather, am I being stupid? The dial in my fridge goes from 1-7. I have no idea which end is the coldest. Consequently, I try leave it in the middle but things at the back of my fridge still freeze. So, can anyway tell me which number is likely to be the coldest (or warmest) setting. Oh, and no, the manual doesn't tell me!!

0 is Off, fridge does not cool itself and is at room temperature. If you work from there then it makes sense - 1 is fridge On, cooling itself a bit. 2 fridge working a bit harder and getting cooler. 9 is fridge working as hard as it can, costing you a fortune and probably freezing your spinach

Have an American fridge freezer only 2 years old. The fridge keeps freezing food, I’ve got it down to 2, am I going the wrong way? Should I be heading toward a higher number?
I’ve tried to contact Russell Hobs, (useless), bern given so many different phone numbers, no one knows, they tell me Curry’s are the manufacturers! Curry’s as helpful as a chocolate teapot. Help please
