Bottom front tooth is so painful to touch and i think it is dying due to teeth grinding trauma Sad I've got jaw joint problems because of this also.
Seeing dentist in Thurs but looks like I'll need a root canal or extraction and it's my front tooth.
Reading up online and can't find any positive things about having a root canal but really don't want to lose a front tooth and I'm only in my late 20s.

I had root canal over 6 years ago on a broken tooth, the dentist then rebuilt my tooth too. I was dreading it but it was no problem at all, it wasn't sore and afterwards it only felt a little bruised but compared to the toothache it was nothing. The thought was worse than actually getting it done. Good luck.

I broke my front teeth in a car accident and has root canals and then crowns. That was 15 years ago and they are fine.

I've had two, one of which has a crown. I've never had any problems apart from if I poke anything down the side of the crown, such as floss, it becomes inflamed, but I just use corsdyl and it settles down.

Your jaw aches afterwards though.

I had a root canal 25 years ago (early twenties). Every dentist keeps an eye on it, but it's still going strong, no crown.

It was the best thing I ever did.

Yes I had one and it was fine. I was dreading it but my dentist said blunty, don't you think me taking your tooth out is going to hurt more and explained how they take teeth out.

It bloody hurt afterwards but I knew it would hurt so arranged to have it done on a Friday afternoon so I had the weekend to recover.

Hot water bottle on the face plus this horrible but amazing liquid that numbs your face and you'll be fine.

I didn't even have any pain afterwards. Or only a b mild ache that was sorted with ibruprufen.

No pain at all during the treatment.

Only thing was I felt really funny afterwards from the adrenalin on the local - very cold and shakey.

I feel your pain literally OP.

I need a root canal after hideous toothache befor Xmas which thankfully cleared up after antibiotics but is still tender.

I, however, am very dentist-phobic so I'm on the list to have it done under sedation. I know, I'm a total wimp!!

I've had one. The dentist referred me to a specialist dentist who was brilliant, then back to my own dentist for a crown. He had a wedge thing that made it more comfortable to hold my mouth open. More than a year ago now and no issues at all.

Lots of positive experiences then, I suppose a lot of what you read on Google is all the horror stories about everything. I doubt many people take to the Internet to write about their lovely experience of having a root canal Grin
I'm not frightened of the dentist and have spent the last few months backwards and forward being poked and prodded by various dentists so I'm not too worried about the actual root canal procedure just more worried that I would end up with a dodgy looking tooth and end up having it out anyway.
Fingers crossed it goes ok!
