ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!! It's so annoying!

See a juicy looking title, click on it . . . thread deleted. Why? What happened!? I MUST know!

Or WORSE! You're really invested in a thread, been following and replying for ages, just spent 10 minutes typing out your most recent epic reply, you hit post . . . thread deleted!

AAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

Notimefortossers · 11/01/2016 14:28

Ok Reni . . . you start :)

OP posts:
Notimefortossers · 11/01/2016 14:29

I'm so proud this is in the trending list :) My first ever trending thread :)

OP posts:
Idefix · 11/01/2016 14:29

sockballs Grin thank you!
Felt very duped when I clicked on that.

I did read in a very singsong voice, especially me,me,me, I,I,I, - reminded me of the seagulls in Finding Nemo.

ComposHatComesBack · 11/01/2016 14:30

I sometimes wonder if they are the saddo-geeks of the CW

The Zebrugge thread - woman orphaned by the Zebrugge disaster and cheated out of her house by her evil aunt and uncle - was someone trying out a plot for a story. Nor was it particularly convincing, the time frame was all to cock.

From the op getting the first inkling that something was wrong to her taking possession of her former home took less than a month, whereas in reality it would have taken years. Also the language was woefully inconsistent, on occasions she had a sophisticated understanding of legal processes but within a few posts was talking about having to 'see a special doctor' (a psychiatrist). I think the original thread is still knocking around if you care to search for it.

There's been a few more threads I've suspected of being creative writing exercises, the dead give away is usually that things happen to quickly or too many coincidences for it to be credible.

Notimefortossers · 11/01/2016 14:31

Lol @ Reni

OP posts:
NameChangeAnon · 11/01/2016 14:34

Compos Ohhh I do hate it when writers don't have a handle on continuity. I can handle spelling errors and even dodgy grammar (I do this myself a lot on early drafts and MN posts) but to not pace your plot properly... .

Aramynta · 11/01/2016 14:37

I clicked too!!! They ALWAYS hover on "Trending" for a good 15 mins after deletion!

While we are being honest.... I can only dream of being MN royalty and I ALSO have a loo brush but it is just for show as we don't use it

Leelu6 · 11/01/2016 14:38

Glad I didn't get invested in the 'help my wife' one. Grin

I think OP, the highlights of that person's OP was:

'my colleague didn't entrap me, it was my fault'. (trust me, we don't think she entrapped you).

'The reason I'm posting this is about sex.' (No! Get out? Really?)

'I don't mind if she never has sex with me again but I just want her to be happy.' (Yeah, that's why posted here to try and get other women to give you tips on how to get around your wife's aversion to shagging you.)

Skzr1214 · 11/01/2016 14:39

I hate it too. This has happened over the last few days and it's utterly annoying and I am also very annoyed on the self righteous band over here who just take one breath , fill air in their lungs with anger and report every thread eighth left and centre. This makes the place stinking and bad for every one. MNHQs should be more tolerant too and give time. I honestly don't believe get that this guy was a troll!

reni2 · 11/01/2016 14:39

I also have a stash of flannels and I finish the kids' apples because what they define as "apple core" I define as "half an apple" and I get stingy.

hefzi · 11/01/2016 14:42

I didn't post on that thread, but I wasn't convinced he was a troll I know a lot of men like him Hadn't occured to me that MN could be a place for posting to check plot devices: hmmmm Grin

reni2 · 11/01/2016 14:44

But yes, OP, I clicked too and was annoyed to find it gone.

Aramynta is your loo brush a clever decoy to make your guests believe you cannot be a mnetter so you won't be outed in rl?

Notimefortossers · 11/01/2016 14:44

Do share the problem with flannels Reni! I love flannels! And your apple strategy sounds perfectly normal to me!

OP posts:
reni2 · 11/01/2016 14:45

Flannels are essential. Why they are verboten I have never understood. Do you hide your stash when people come now?

ThornyBird · 11/01/2016 14:47

Are flannels bad too now? Oh ffs Sad I'm never going to get the hang of being a Mumsnetter...

Notimefortossers · 11/01/2016 14:47

I only have one out at any given time

OP posts:
mrsfuzzy · 11/01/2016 14:52

i'm proud to own flannels and no, they aren't hidden when dil visit, so there!:)

ClarkL · 11/01/2016 14:53

Flannels? what? Why are they bad?? I have about 50 all rolled up nicely (because I no longer have cloth nappies to fold and its therapeutic) and I use those instead of a hand towel that everyone uses which i think is yucky....plus if someone is mucky they are on hand to clean them and they are color coordinated. Flannels are AMAZING

Notimefortossers · 11/01/2016 14:53

I clearly missed the flannel thread ;)

OP posts:
nortonhouse · 11/01/2016 14:54

And I cannot for the life of me understand why certain other threads (MIL taking grandchild to stay in duplex at Shangri-La Paris, I just can't get out of bed at age 23/22/19 to take my children to school, what's your "me time"? etc) have NOT been deleted. I'm thinking Mumsnet HQ might just be fallible. Grin

hefzi · 11/01/2016 14:54

Are we non-U for having flannels? I have them in a basket next to the sink and a special bin next to the sink to toss them in after use, until I have a full load.

Between that and my loo brush, not to mention my aversion for Boden and Ikea, I shall never be a true MNetter!

BabyGanoush · 11/01/2016 14:55

annoying maybe,

but some people treat threads like soap opera's, demanding the next instalment, when often these are people's real lives, and real pressures and unhappiness, and not actually there just for your entertainment. Sometimes a poster reveals too much and for privacy reasons the thread goes POOF. Or sometimes it's all just a big fat lie.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 11/01/2016 14:56

I use flannels to exfoliate my face, so shoot me.

I miss a good troll. Remember when we used to get 'raided' by childish misogynist forums? Was always a hoot reading their schoolboy giggling, like they weren't easy enough to trace.

reni2 · 11/01/2016 14:57

I have never made fishfingers, crumpets, pasta or hummus myself and won't try. I could give a breathless story of how busy I am, but in reality I think shop bought are fine. I tried to make bread, a thoroughly regrettable experience.

donajimena · 11/01/2016 14:58

Sometimes I think a flannel would be handy. I think I may have one kicking round somewhere
