I've just watched Ant and Dec with Prince Charles. The sheer opulence of those numerous palaces. Just how many do they need? So so wrong imo.
Surely in these times of massive hardship for so many it is time they were scaled right back.

I thought she had two,one who was prince Williams,a Norland nanny and a mothers help at night. That might be at different times though. I definitely don't think she just has one for public engagememts- she only does about 4 a year!

I have heard some pretty shaky justifications for the monarchy, but this one takes the biscuit. Some UK business got some minor boost from Kate. And we are supposed to be impreseed

LK Bennet made £11.1 million pre tax profits in 2013, so if they and Riess paid their full share of corporation tax they contributed about £2.8 million to the exchequer.

In 2013 the Camdridge's got £4.5 million spent upgrading their apartment, on top of what they get from the civil list ( for duties), whatever they cost in protection, travel costs etc etc, I'm pretty certain it goes way higher than £2.8 million. They also get money from the Duchy of Cornwall

So your point about businesses paying more in tax than they cost because of the "Kate effect" is utterly incorrect, isn't it. Oh and the fact that we will still be paying for her even when she stops having any influence on trends makes it even more incorrect.

There's a programme on the palaces tonight I think on bbc4 that might prove interesting in light of this thread.
