To think this has got to be the worst year ever for Christmas TV?

I honestly can't believe how bad it's been.

Luther was good but it was all done before Christmas. Sherlock isn't on under New Year's Day. Not Going Out was abominable, a real disappointment.

Eastenders from 2 nights ago was fantastic but apart from that and a documentary about Peter Kay it's been really, really terrible.

I am looking forward to Sherlock tomorrow, been looking forward to it for months! But yeah, nothing grabbed me over Christmas...

LordBrightside · 31/12/2015 20:50

Is this TFI not live either yet pretending it's New Year's Eve?

Hear hear!!!!
And everything that was ok has been bloody repeated!!! Who hasn't got a TiVo, Sky+ or even an antiquated vcr?? Bloody repeat the wizard of oz ffs!!!

It has been shite and I have resorted to binging on criminal minds and Big Bang theory!!!

NaiceVillageOfTheDammed · 31/12/2015 21:19

Fnuck all on TV apart from...

Fungus the Bogeyman

Some cracking lines.

Mybunnyisamummy · 01/01/2016 01:01

Downton & Call the midwife were the only things I enjoyed watching this year.
Very poor programming unfortunately and we were tied to the house a lot this Christmas.

aquashiv · 01/01/2016 08:35

Yes, and where was the wizard of Oz, The Little Match Girl, Its a Wonderful life and Bad Santa? Aren't they THE Xmas films.

SinglePringle · 01/01/2016 08:45

Wizard of Oz was on yesterday

SevenOfNineTrue · 01/01/2016 08:49

Downton was good and I liked the Gogglebox review of the year but that was all.

Hulababy · 01/01/2016 08:50

I've enjoyed Call the Midwife but not really seen much else; not much has jumped out for me to watch.

Dd and dh have watched mainly older stuff.

Dd is looking forward to Billionaire Boy today as we saw some of it being filmed at our local shops and saw all the filming road directions etc round town earlier this year.

Janeymoo50 · 01/01/2016 09:11

Call The Midwife and Stickman were good, have hardly watched anything else.

VeryPunny · 01/01/2016 09:17

It was shite, wasn't it? And why the everloving fuck does the BBC insist on rehashing Dad's sodding Army at every opportunity?

Stick man and Esio Trot were good though.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 01/01/2016 09:22

Tv was dire!
The highlight of the festive season was an enchanting cartoon about the Book of Kells on BBC Alba yesterday which I bet nobody else saw.

yorkshapudding · 01/01/2016 09:29

Quite enjoyed the Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Stick Man, Charlie Brooker was good as usual..that was about it. Disappointing really.

Busyworkingmum71 · 01/01/2016 09:33

Enjoyed Downton, and Fungus, with the kids.

Ghost hunter thing was ok.

Don't normally watch Strictly, Dr Who or Call the midwife, so didn't watch at Xmas (story lines, background etc it misses us).

No big films that we could find. Resorted to Netflix and DVDs the kids got for xmas. Very very disappointing.

Totally missed then there was none... Aiden turner in a low slung towel, I hear you say...? Which channel? Might it be on catch up?

Quite enjoyed Mr Hoppy last night too.

Destinysdaughter · 01/01/2016 09:34

Aidan Turner semi naked certainly made my Christmas! :)

Destinysdaughter · 01/01/2016 09:39

Busy it was on BBC 1 so you can watch it on I player. ( as many times as you like...!) Smile

oldmum22 · 01/01/2016 09:47

Agree Christmas TV was rubbish . Call the Midwife, Downton were the only things of note. Ended up trawling the Virginmedia channels for stuff to watch and a couple of Lovefilms that needed watching before being sent back. Why cant we have some decent films or something cheery to watch ?

AlfieandAnnieRose · 01/01/2016 10:34

BugritAndTidyup that was me too with the radio times, looked through and the only thing I circled was the stick man!
I did really enjoy Michael McIntyre on bbc1 Xmas eve, the part where they brought the audience members on stage was hilarious! Think I will also give Then there were none a try as it seems to have been a hit

BugritAndTidyup · 01/01/2016 11:09

And Then There Was None was superb, well worth watching if you like mysteries generally. It was pretty dark though, and slow, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Meanwhile I'm wondering about the Rafe Spall ghost hunting thing - I'll have to take a look at that.

GoblinLittleOwl · 01/01/2016 11:34

Yes, truly dreadful. Little but repeats of repeats, on all channels.

I have mostly watched Sky News, to remind myself that there are worse things than bad television.

Thank goodness for Radio 4.

MrsToddsShortcut · 01/01/2016 12:31

Stick Man was good, enjoyed Downton, looked forward to And Then There Were None but it was quite grey (if that makes sense). Lovely all-star cast though with Lovely Toby Stephens and Lovely Burn Gorman. Also Aiden Turner with his Lovely accent although I could care less about his stomach Grin.

I so looked forward to Luther but thought it was a bit Meh...

Harry Proce was good but a bit too drawn out.

If Sherlock lets me down tonight I may cry!

(in the interests of disclosure, the fact that I have had a Hell Coldâ„¢ (An Hell Coldâ„¢?) has coloured my viewing somewhat!) Grin

SoleSource · 01/01/2016 16:25

Rubbish Christmas television this year. Jools Holland was rubbish and it is NIT live.

WotNoLoobrush · 01/01/2016 16:33

YANBU.

I've still got the last 'Back in Time for Christmas' to watch though.

Glad I'm not alone in noticing Mrs Brown's Boys seemingly being on every sodding night. Not a fan here (can you tell?)

BackforGood · 01/01/2016 16:42

Guess it depends what you like. I've not been very well since last Sunday and have managed to catch up on a LOT of TV, with loads to watch.
I do, however, like watching the Christmas services (2 late on Christmas Eve, one on Christmas day morning and Carols from Kings) plus the 'easy watching' stuff like Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife. I'll watch extra episodes of MotD. Then there's been a few 'Christmas Specials' on - Michael McIntyre, for example.
That said, I think the best viewing has been on Christmas Comedy Gold Grin

Maudofallhopefulness · 01/01/2016 18:39

I enjoyed Downtown and And then there were None. Carlos Acosta's Carmen was wonderful. I enjoyed Darcey's Ballet Heroes today. I'm looking forward to Charlie Brooker's 2015 Wipe that I've recorded and the Big Fat Quiz. The Christmas Uni Challenge has been good, and the old faves like Calamity Jane and Showboat (watched when DH was out, total luxury).😀

It depends what you like I suppose.
