To think this has got to be the worst year ever for Christmas TV?

I honestly can't believe how bad it's been.

Luther was good but it was all done before Christmas. Sherlock isn't on under New Year's Day. Not Going Out was abominable, a real disappointment.

Eastenders from 2 nights ago was fantastic but apart from that and a documentary about Peter Kay it's been really, really terrible.

Detectorist Christmas special was brilliant. I've also spent most of Christmas watching detectorists s1, which was also brilliant.
Basically, if you haven't seen it already, try detectorists. Grin

Also enjoyed Dr Who special, and looking forward to Sherlock tomorrow.

absolutelynotfabulous · 31/12/2015 17:48

I watched Mary Poppins in desperationBlush.

Apart from Dad's Army doc and And Then There Were None, there was bugger all on Imo.

Spent yesterday watching Only Fools and Horses back to back (again) fir 8 hoursBlush. Brilliant!!

IndridCold · 31/12/2015 17:48

We've been watching dectectorists too. Had to record and save up series 2 as DS was away. Looking forward to the Christmas special too.

Other than that it has been the Agatha Christie thing and Christmas University Challenge Hmm.

rumbleinthrjungle · 31/12/2015 17:55

The Dad's Army thing was nice, and we sat through Harry Price - which was ok but would have been better condensed into half the time. Other than that it seems to be same old same old. We'll be glued to Sherlock tomorrow but it's been a lot of DVDs this Christmas.

FoxInABox · 31/12/2015 18:07

And then there were none was very good. we all really enjoyed Peter & Wendy too as a family, as well as stickman and Mr stink. Still haven't had a chance to watch downton yet.

OhBigHairyBollocks · 31/12/2015 18:16

YANBU! Dh and I were discussing it last night. We've watched a few of the films (more for DDs sake) but other than that its been shite!

I'm looking forward to the David Walliams Billionaire Boy tomorrow. Loved his Gangsta Granny and Boy in a Dress so hope I'm not disappointed.

cardibach · 31/12/2015 19:20

Tonight is shit for sure. Mrs. Brown's fucking brainless crappy pointless Boys.

SavoyCabbage · 31/12/2015 19:21

I was so upset that there wasn't a Christmas 'car share'. On and on they were about the Christmas team...and then nothing.

Baconyum · 31/12/2015 19:26

I almost started a similar thread yesterday. I like downton so watched that, not a soap watcher, I like mastermind, only connect and uni challenge but as a pp said they're not really festive. Couple of good films on (which were then repeated as nauseum wtf!) I'm not a Disney/family film type person either so yea it was pretty crap. Looking forward to Sherlock though. And may watch and then there were none on catch up (any good?)

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 31/12/2015 19:35

I was saying this to my brother the other day. Totally shit overall.

Downton was ok.
Luther was good but that was before Xmas
No film
Didn't like Dickension
Didn't like Then There Was None
Didn't watch Stickman
Thought Dr Who was poor.

Nothing on tonight.

Have high hopes for Sherlock.

Thank fuck for netflicks.

BlueJug · 31/12/2015 19:50

No nothing. Currently got a rerun of Top Gear on Dave for DS.

Not Going Out was shameful. Dreadful. Not funny. It was so good when it started.

Hate Dr Who, don't watch soaps or Downton, Dickensian was badly scheduled - might give it a go on iPlayer. Watched a lot of football and Masterchef and a few things on iPlayer but v thin offerings - admit I have been busy though.

TwatTheNinja · 31/12/2015 20:01

TheBestChocolateIsFree if you like Terry Pratchett, I've just found the colour of magic on pick now too, its half way through the first episode already though.

BrandNewAndImproved · 31/12/2015 20:12

Catherine tates skit was funny. That's been it, I was looking forward to gogglesprogs but switched it off once the first break happened as neither me or the dc found it any good.

megletthesecond · 31/12/2015 20:17

miss I missed detectorists. Hopefully it's on iplayer. At worst it'll be repeated next xmas.

Home alone, muppets xmas carol, royal institution xmas lectures and top gear repeats kept me amused. Am hoping sherlock is good.

vienna1981 · 31/12/2015 20:20

The Eagle Has Landed is on tomorrow afternoon (NYD). I believe that's three years running. Don't mind though coz it is a good film. Seems to have elbowed The Great Escape as the Christmas/New Year war film of choice.

OohMavis · 31/12/2015 20:20

Call the Midwife and Doctor Who were great.

Everything else was pish.

OohMavis · 31/12/2015 20:23

If you're bored and looking through iPlayer, don't watch a Gert Lush Christmas ffs. I like Russell Howard usually, but it was the biggest load of shit I've ever seen Angry

Sparklingbrook · 31/12/2015 20:25

I watched that this afternoon Mavis. I was a bit baffled TBH.

Currently watching lovely Gareth Malone.

edwinbear · 31/12/2015 20:28

I hosted so didn't see much, but I thought Stickman was good and really enjoyed Harry Price:Ghost Hunter. Struggling tonight mind.

Tamponlady · 31/12/2015 20:33

Yes us two I was like we're are the films usually they show the poilets at Christmas

Hunderbuy was over by Christmas

HepzibarHumbug · 31/12/2015 20:37

It's seriously shit tonight

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 31/12/2015 20:40

Never seen The Eagle Has Landed, maybe I will watch that tomorrow!

pinkdelight · 31/12/2015 20:45

I've been hooked on Making A Murderer on Netflix all week. Not mega festive I'll admit, but just out for holiday binge viewing. Well worth a watch if you're remotely in the mood.
