Mum was away over Christmas with friends, got back Sunday. Ds' birthday was on Xmas Day. She said she will come around on Saturday (NY Day).

Dsis was at home with her grown up kids over christmas but didnt do much and doesnt really bother with celebrating/cooking etc. No word if she will come over but seems busy with new boyfriend.
Both live 30-45min drive away max. I'm 39 weeks pregnant with spd so driving is very painful but I would have gone to visit by now as Christmas is about family for me.

AIBU to be a bit upset none of them have popped round yet to see ds or me?

I don't think Viola means that OP should walk it! However, I'm in London and it could easily take 45 mins if not more to drive 7 miles.

OP, I'd feel about sad about that but good that you've invited them.

Just checked google maps, it's 9.8 miles but it's more the traffic (London) so can take up to an hour sometimes so I know it's a hassle.

Imperial be my mum please! Xmas Smile I was worried about her going as I don't have anyone to watch ds if I went into labour (first time she's ever gone away for Christmas!). She wouldn't think to offer to take ds out so I can rest, I've made my peace with that.

I do always ask them to come over as I do feel isolated, they both live moments from eachother, I had to move up here due to property prices.

Thanks for well wishes Smile

They aren't trying to stay out of my way, no. My mum doesn't even take her shoes off when she comes and generally rushes to go back home. She's a funny one

That might be an overall issue and not related specifically to your pregnancy. Do you have any other friends or family around you who could join in the seasonal festivities and be mindful of your imminent arrival? Do you have a DP?

TheSecondViola · 30/12/2015 19:39

Oh fgs. Obviously it was a comment on the fact that 7 miles doesn't equate to 45,mins driving.
Engage brains before bitching, ladies.

It does though around here Viola traffic is awful!

I have lovely friends around who came to see ds and facetimed him on the day/sent him videos to say happy birthday. My mum didn't even ring but texted me merry Christmas.

I'm lucky to have nice friends but I would like my mum and sister to give a shit more about ds I guess. He loves them so much
