Makeup (mini sizes), hand cream, mirror, wet wipes, hand sanitiser, spare phone charger, gum, tissues, sanitary towel, lip balm, pen, comb, hair bands, folding shopping bag, earphones, cash, spare Oyster card, painkillers, spare contact lenses, plasters, wallet.

Oyster card, phone and keys go in my coat pocket as I like being able to reach for them quickly.

Dh gets quite cross at the state of my handbag lol. It is quite disorganised (full of junk) I suppose.
Generally I will have the following;
Phone
Keys
Purse
Lip balm
Deodrant
Body spray
Hair bands
Hand sanitizer
Paracetamol
Ibuprofen
Sanitary towels
A bunch of receipts.
Lose change (that falls out of my purse )
Wage slips
Training notes from work
A ton of sharpies (coz you never know when you will need them)

Quite often I have also found the following in there :-
Half eaten biscuit that one of the dcs have stuffed in there.
Toys also belonging to the dcs
Chocolate (If I am lucky some that I have stashed that the children haven't found )
Pictures (drawn by children at work for me)
Jewellery
Etc...
My bag really is a bottomles pit of tat at times!

If wearing jeans and only nipping to shops, I just take wallet, keys and phone with a shopping bag.

If heading out for general tripping about I grab my bag. Contains:

  • wallet
  • phone
  • lip balm
  • folding shopping bags
  • water bottle
  • apple and assorted snacks
  • tissues
  • organiser

I have

• 3 pens and a pencil (just found 2 little red Argos pencils that my charge
must have appropriated!)
• Eyeliner and mascara.
• Aēsop hand balm
• 6 packs of wooden tooth picks
• lip balm
• lip gloss
• 1! contact lens
• large purse (what is in the purse is a whole other thread!)
• 2 pairs of sunglasses (mine and my charges)
• earphones
• Clarins hand and nail cream
• Inhaler
• deodorant
• Nurofen
• A pair of reindeer earrings
• Gum
• Hairbrush/comb
• Nail file/buffer
• Oyster card and the return part of a train ticket.
• 3 packets of tissues
• packet of wet wipes
• 5 reusable bags
• Keys

Just emptied out - the outward part of my train ticket, about 15 reciepts and 4 bus tickets (staying at my parents and no car!) lots of empty gum packets, various half eaten fruit bars, fruit chews, opened packets of kiddie biscuits, two fireman Sam characters that he has been wittering on about for weeks! And enough crumbs (and glitter) to fill a large cushion cover!

How big are your handbags ?!

I make my own bags, (I sew) and usually I have had in the past a medium size bag but started carrying to much crap in them. So I made a clutch for myself (google Necessary Clutch Wallet ) and I can take that as a minimum if just popping out,as it carries everything from my phone (iphone 6) to being a complete wallet.

But I am starting to think I need a big bag again for any extra stuff crap I need to carry.

As a minimum - ie, for a "going -out bag" as opposed to a "work bag" - I would have:
purse
glasses
house keys
phone
pen and something to write on
usually car keys

which simply wouldn't fit in most clothes pockets, so it's easier to bung them in a bag

Quite often you can add to that -
carrier or cotton bags, in case I buy something when out
bottle of water
something I need to give to someone when I get where I'm going
umbrella
puzzle book if I'm going somewhere like a hosp appt where you will be sitting around for hours, or waiting on or for public transport
tissues
paracetamol

But, if you don't want a bag, then don't use a bag, it just seems a lot os pockets are needed for my minimum going out

I don't carry much but it wouldn't fit in pockets - even assuming all women's clothes have adequate pockets, which they mostly don't.

I usually carry:
Purse
Passport (live abroad, have to carry ID)
Ventolin inhaler
Keys
Phone
iPod

I have two types of bag.

The not-at-work-today bag contains purse; phone; reusable shopping bags; lipbalm; mints; shopping list; small pen and hearing essential spares kit (which I also keep painkillers in).

My work bag has all the above plus work id/entry card; diary; small bag containing nail clippers, comb, mirror, phone charger cable, nail file, mooncup, and a small body spray.

I tend to keep keys in my jacket pocket, on my work desk or in the bag.

I've never got pockets big enough to carry everything, although on some occasions I've gone shopping with phone, cards and keys only in pockets.
