The one where she has her son help with the shopping and can't string a sentence together/ bumps into son and tries to hide the fact she's having a NYE party. Surely I cannot be alone in thinking these are pretty shyt and annoying!!! Shock

Exactly, there must have been at least ten earnest, corporate-y creative people who had to be gone through to 'green light' such a campaign, why oh why did NONE of them say 'Stop! This is utter shite!' Were they all drunk on voulez vous laced with gluten free (The Latimers) brandy?

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2015 22:45

You know what HelenMN DH said that the other day about the hair transplant. I had never noticed.

ShatnersBassoon · 28/12/2015 22:45

The budget obviously didn't run to professional scriptwriters once they'd secured a couple of recognisable faces. I can imagine a few execs sitting in an office saying "Is mocking the afflicted post-modern yet?" Hmm

MetalMidget · 28/12/2015 23:01

The Tesco ads remind me of a smear test - unpleasant, uncomfortable, and undignified. At least smear tests have a point.

TwatTheNinja · 28/12/2015 23:09

MetalMidget summed it up perfectly

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/12/2015 23:10

A ten incher you say Helen? ...... hmmm, not bad for £1.79 Xmas Wink

dodobookends · 28/12/2015 23:19

Is it me or is anyone else thinking that they're never, ever going to be able to see or hear the words 'gluten-free' again without mentally adding the words 'Latimers'?

DoctorTwo · 28/12/2015 23:20

If that was my son I'd push for having him neutered. If they were my parents I'd disown them.

LBOCS2 · 28/12/2015 23:20

I must be the only person on MN who quite likes these adverts, but in my defence, I actually know a man-child who is in his 30s, lives at home with his parents, mixes on his decks to make a 'living' and is utterly ridiculous. And it reminds me of him which causes a great deal of hilarity.

FlatOnTheHill · 28/12/2015 23:27

What gets me. Some arsehole got paid for writing those ads.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2015 23:30

They are quite reminiscent of the adverts the numptys on The Apprentice produce and everyone cringes.

Pipbin · 28/12/2015 23:38

Exactly, there must have been at least ten earnest, corporate-y creative people who had to be gone through to 'green light' such a campaign

I think this about so many ads, films, products and programs.
Why does no one in the creation of them say stop?

Bakeoffcake · 28/12/2015 23:52

Oh they are dreadful aren't they? Tescos had a terrible year last year, I can't see how those ads will make things any better.

I too love the Coop ad. I also love, love, love the Vodafone ad with the family and their pet turkey, makes me chuckle every time I see it.

GloGirl · 29/12/2015 00:08

Sparkling - every time I see a poor advert I always think "They could do better on the Apprentice"

SistersOfPercy · 29/12/2015 00:13

Someone asked on the tesco Facebook page how old Freddie was supposed to be and they did reply.....25.

Personally I'd like to shove his volley vulez up his arris.

Sparklingbrook · 29/12/2015 00:23

YY Glo they definitely could. They would still be awful but not as awful. Grin

derxa · 29/12/2015 00:37

Well I think some adverts have a deliberate irritation factor built in. Here you all are talking about them. The Maltesers ad is also irritating but for some reason I love it. ...'to play a gnome' Grin

Sparklingbrook · 29/12/2015 01:08

We are taking about it but not scuttling off to Tesco to buy volley voolays, being irritated doesn't make me want to buy stuff. Grin

LineyReborn · 29/12/2015 01:10

I think the next time I am in Tescos I will feel more depressed than usual and buy less tbh.

I actually like the Tesco ads! Confused In my defence, I haven't seen many, so will Google others mentioned to make a fair comparison.

My other Dave's are Vodafone with the turkey and Sainsbury's with Mog. Smile

Off to watch the Co-op one now...

MamaLazarou · 29/12/2015 09:10

YANBU, they are just so cringey to watch.

I can't believe someone actually got paid to write them.

Horsemad · 29/12/2015 09:12

Ok, I've just watched the Co-op (now got something in my eye, sob!) and Lidl - this made me smile! Smile

Both better than Tesco's offering!!! Grin
