The one where she has her son help with the shopping and can't string a sentence together/ bumps into son and tries to hide the fact she's having a NYE party. Surely I cannot be alone in thinking these are pretty shyt and annoying!!! Shock

Yes Sparkling, I agree re the Coop one, love it.

MetalMidget · 28/12/2015 21:17

Oh god, I hate the Tesco Xmas ads, especially the son.

Who can forget the timeless classic of how he's stalking a woman whilst she's trying to do her shopping, because what woman doesn't want the attentions of an overgrown manchild whilst getting their groceries? Especially one who uses the phrase 'volly voo lays'?

scarlets · 28/12/2015 21:19

Ruth jones must've been very well remunerated. That's the only explanation.

DickDewy · 28/12/2015 21:22

My 17 year old said 'how old is the son supposed to be, 30?'

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2015 21:22

They could at least have cast Jay from The Inbetweeners as the son.

Iwanttokillthem · 28/12/2015 21:26

And another thing.

The staff all are so helpful and interact with the family as if they were not in the least irritating.

I wouldnt know if Tesco staff are usually so nice and helpful to all its staff as I dont use the store (Im an Aldi woman) but if its normal for them to go round in a mob helping one person and then watch while they finish ,pay and then leave the store then Im not surprised Tescos profits are down.

TwatTheNinja · 28/12/2015 21:27

Arrhhhg I can't stand the tesco adds they make me cringe they're so bad.

When they are at the check out and Ben miller and the son think they are bartering,

Why just WHY?

IseeSwansea · 28/12/2015 21:34

Beyond awful. Ruth Jones must be desperate. Whatever happened to some sense of professional integrity?

00100001 · 28/12/2015 21:34

Maybe, its to get people talking about them on internet forums? Grin

Optimist1 · 28/12/2015 21:35

Yes it's hard to know why quality performers like Ruth Jones and Ben Miller would lower themselves to this low-rent stuff...

moggiek · 28/12/2015 21:36

Love the Co-op one, though.

Hygge · 28/12/2015 21:39

The co-op one is the best of the Christmas adverts this year.

I love that they are playing Bolero, and how he gets them better stuff than just bread and milk.

Hate the Tesco ones, hate the hideous man-child.

scrulytrumptious · 28/12/2015 21:44

Completely agree, the Tesco ads are dire. Can't stand that Nationwide ad with the dreadful dirge of a song either.

Elledouble · 28/12/2015 21:45

Are they trying to make it like My Family? Remember when Kris Marshall was Zoe Wannamaker and Robert Lindsay's idiot son?

The80sweregreat · 28/12/2015 21:46

I like the co op one. Sweet and simple.
Tesco ads are dire.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/12/2015 21:49

LIDL, Co-op, and Sainsburys were my favourites. All lovely and Christmassy. Xmas Smile Those are my shops too now I think about it.

Tesco's was mindlessly forgetable - except I vaguely noticed Ruth was in it now you mention it. And I think they said all their party food cooks at the same temperature - which I thought yes thanks that is a good idea someone had - a moment of joined up thinking, which is noteworthy these days!

DickDewy · 28/12/2015 21:50

My husband, who rarely reacts to anything, has a visceral reaction to the advert, and I don't even know what it's for, where two middle aged women discuss an unsuccessful audition and use cupcakes to denote boobs and eyes on stalks.

I fear for the tv screen if he sees it one more time.

MrsJayy · 28/12/2015 21:51

Arghh volley vuleys has just come on

DisappointedOne · 28/12/2015 21:51

Bumped into her in Waitrose last week. Tesco's contract can't be up to much. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2015 21:53

Hopefully come New Year's Day volley voolays will be a thing of the past. Three more days to go.

I think that's Maltesers Dick. Really annoying.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 28/12/2015 21:53

OH I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE ALL HERE.

MrsJayy · 28/12/2015 21:57

Ruth jones in waitrose shocker bet the volley vollets are nicer

BellaTheGymnast · 28/12/2015 21:58

The casting and writing are both awful, there is no way you'd believe they are a family.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2015 21:58

i thought volley voolays were a bit naff these days?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/12/2015 22:00

Hi Helen, always good to see you too Thanks
