AIBU?

To wonder if I'm ever going to get a bloody Christmas dinner?

At DP's Dad's in East London for Christmas. It's been lovely, loads of family and friends calling in, more booze than the local pub stocks, anything you want.

Christmas dinner been on since about 9. Things have been ready in that time and been taken out to 'go back in at the end'.

But when is the end?!! I'm so hungry that when we ran out of tonic water I legged it to the offy and had a secret packet of crisps on the way back. We had a croissant at 10 and nothing since then.

I'm smashed and bleeding hungry! They've just busted open a keg so I'm not sure dinner is going to happen at all.

There's a baby here who has a rusk. I'm eyeing that up right now. I don't think she'd put up much of a fight, but she has slobbered on it.

How many of you are there? You can't be the only one with a rumbling stomach....

Sounds bloody awful.

There's being relaxed & well, not caring about your guests, really!

Is everyone else starving or were they expecting this & have supplies??

I can't imagine that the parents of the baby will be happy with it eating that turkey Shock

I can't decide if I should have a mince pie - to right a wrong - or wait and "starve" out of solidarity.

Can you tell the cook that they are now responsible for my mince pie dilemma too?

At my exes family they took so long to serve dinner that I nearly passed out, it was nearly 9pm by the time we'd finished.

I was so bored and exhausted afterwards that I actually moved the clock forward to midnight and insisted that me and DH leave as it was so late. He was too pissed to refuse! Grin

Toffe, well done!

I think we should form an emergency team for next year, to distribute food on xmas day, I'm always bored on the day so could do that.

Are they doing five two and having to wait for a non starve day? It'll tick over till tomorrow and they'll gorge till they burst?

please can someone explain the concept of taking food out of the oven and finishing it off. Surely you work out the times when everything is ready and stick it in at the appropriate time. If things are cooked a bit soon you put foil over them and stick them in the bottom of the oven covered in tin foil.

I use the cake cooling rack to create a third shelf, and have a crown, so have no oven space problems. This cooking method by OP's DP's Dad seems bizarre to me.

I can't believe you still haven't eaten, my turkey went in at 10:40, lunch on the table by 1pm and cleared up by 3pm.

I'm just having some crisps now, as feeling peckish after dinner at 4 p.m. I really fancy cheese and crackers, but I am too tired to get it together.

East London? Tell them you have to run out to get some emergency "lady items" (coy simper) and get a fucking curry.
