We've just found the stocking!

SparklesandBangs · 24/12/2015 23:56

Couldn't find the candy canes for the stockings looked in all my hiding places, not helped by the large aperitif and half bottle of champagne I consumed with dinner.

Just found them in my wardrobe along with a present I bought for DH that I had completely forgotten. It's not wrapped so is now is a naice m&s bag and may stay that way.

madamginger · 25/12/2015 00:01

I've not lost anything this year but my mil Is terrible and loses something every year, it usually turns up by my DH birthday in February
We have an old wardrobe in the loft and all the presents get put in there, or if it's something big like when we got DD a bike for her birthday we store it in the roof box in the garage.

MrsMook · 25/12/2015 00:33

We've shared last year's advent calendar today. I'd bought it in October as it had a nice picture and hidden it too well and it turned up way too late. The date was 30th November 2015 so I kept it. I thought I knew where it was but had doubts so bought another full set of them this year and decided to share this one out today.

Rubbish chocolate anyway Grin

sellotape
where the hell would all the rolls of sellotape hide during a house move?
santa this year might be doing a combination of origami, string and duct tape at this rate....

I bet Ive put them 'somewhere obvious, all together so they will be handy'
Probably with the bloody scissors too....
Still, got 'Santa' sherry to drink....

knobblyknee · 25/12/2015 01:47

Posh hand made earrings for DIL. Luckily its not her only gift (phew). I may find them before her birthday next month...
I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I have literally looked everywhere. Xmas Blush

GinIsTheBestChristmasSpirit · 25/12/2015 02:16

Bastard pencil crayons in a posh tin. I suggested the pack of untouched emergency crayolas but apparently that's not the same...

I loose stuff every single year.

Every year I buy stuff throughout the year and stash it thinking I am being smart. The thing is I stash it in places I only look in every couple of months. So Christmas
Comes and stuff gets left behind.

Then throughout the year I find the stuff, kick myself and stash it somewhere else.
Where it is then forgetten about.

So this year I have been smart. I think cos I have this nagging feeling I have forgotten something. And the random shit I found throughout the year I stashed in the drawers under my bed. Although you would think I would also stash this years crap.. Haha no.

But fuck it. This year is really random and I have stuff going back a few years that has been stashed constantly..stuff they were into then but no longer.. So should make for an interesting day.

Oh and in the interests of disclosure. Seems
When I packed the tree away
Last year, I also packed forgotten about present, booze and some sweets.. Oops. Well the booze still tastes fine Xmas Grin

Sazbird · 25/12/2015 03:58

DH starts doing bits while October then put them away and forgets. Cue mad rush as we discover bags still to be wrapped on Xmas eve. Got it sorted this year tho, made sure we did shopping together so I know what was bought. Only had 1 gift to wrap as I was waiting to get the SIM card activated. (Smiles smugly while silently panicking I forget the sprouts)

A little live pet thing which is about the only (realistic) thing Dd asked for. (But if anyone knows where I can get a real live unicorn - not a toy - and a non-melting magical singing snowflake - again, real, not a toy - I'd be grateful). Bought the one achievable gift and then lost the damn thing. Eventually purchased a second one in despair. Then the first one turned up. Inside a cardboard box in a cupboard I don't use for storing gifts. Different colours luckily so guess who got two little love pets?!

Elefant1 · 25/12/2015 10:15

Usually if I can't find something I can at least think it will turn up some time and I can give it next year. But this time I have lost a calender (a special addition on so bought in August before they sold out), if I don't find it soon it will be useless!

I went to HMV and bought some DVDs for DFIL and also one for DD. Left the ones for DFIL out in the open but thought "shit, must keep DD's out of the way, she's home soon." Put it somewhere safe. A week later, where's DD's DVD? Looked everywhere. She's mentioned again just how much she wants it. Oh sod it! Back to HMV, new copy (keeping receipt carefully) Wrapped it up, put it in stocking as it wasn't expensive and stocking looking a bit thin. DD delighted when it was the first thing she opened in her stocking. Where the other copy was remains baffling mystery.......
We've just unwrapped presents and there was a baffled look from DD as she opened a second copy of DVD. Yes, the very safe place I'd found to put DD's present so she didn't see it turned out to be "neatly wrapped up under the tree" Blush

But I still haven't lost the receipt, so I'm not out of pocket.
