To not understand people letting dogs lick their baby's faces

There seems to be a lot of these videos doing the rounds of people thinking it's really cute to trust their dogs, sometimes huge things bigger than the baby, slobbering all over the baby and often licking their faces, even their lips. It's like they're trying to show how good natured and trustworthy their dog is. I wonder why they think it's all right for their baby's faces to get tongues that have just licked at bums to cover it on the baby's face.
Not just that, what if the dog suddenly decided he didn't want a little person clambering all over him and get vicious?

I don't know how anyone can let their dog lick them full stop.

Dogs lick their own and each others' bums and balls.

I agree. My FIL tried to tell me his dog had a clean lick the other day. I swiftly removed 8mo much to his annoyance

Completely agree. Same with people who let their pets sleep in their beds and walk on their kitchen tops. Makes me heave.

My old dog used to perform auto-fellatio and the lick up any mess he created. He also ate other dogs shit and chewed the gusset out of any pants he could get his paws on.

There is no way I'd have let him lick anything I cared about.

I love dogs but I think people's who let their dogs lick their faces are repulsive.

YANBU. I'm a long time dog owner and parent, and I worm my dogs for a bloody reason. I know for a fact many people dont.

As a dog owner I hate dogs licking. Won't let them lick me or my kids I've seen where their tongues go

Ugh it's disgusting. I wouldn't let my dog even get that near to my baby with it's mouth. You can never know an animal 100 percent imo. It isn't worth the risk of any potential bites.
