what I will wear
If each kid has the same amount of presents ( really? Yours count?)

Badders123 · 22/12/2015 12:43

Starters.
Ffs.
I'm allergic to shellfish.
Mil makes prawn cocktail every year.
And every year I sit with no food whilst they all chow down.
I might take a twix or something to tide me over til the main course Grin

JimmyGreavesMoustache · 22/12/2015 12:49

what I wear
serving food that no-one's bothered about because of "tradition"
colour coordination of any kind - wrapping, decorations, whatever

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/12/2015 12:53

What I wear - as long as I am warm and comfortable, I don't care

If each kid has the same amount of presents - no, but I do try to balance the amount spent

What time anything happens - we'll get up whenever, do whatever, eat whenever it's cooked etc

What is on TV - it's all crap. We might watch a DVD after dinner.

A fucking starter - don't understand why anybody has one. The dinner itself is plenty. We usually don't have pudding until the evening, as still full from dinner.

TheBunnyOfDoom · 22/12/2015 12:54

What people wear.
What food we have (don't care about turkey, sprouts or fifty types of veg)
Christmas TV.

hefzi · 22/12/2015 13:01

Badders my SIL is similar: I'm not sure if she caught PA from my brother or whether that was what drew them together - either way, now I just bare my teeth when it becomes clear "she forgot" again!

This year, I don't care at all about:
being on my own
having no decorations
"Christmas" food

It'll be bloody lovely Grin

YouTheCat · 22/12/2015 13:08

Not bothered about what I wear it'll be an apron for a good few hours anyway .

Don't care how many gifts there are, just that people like what they receive.

All I want is for the food to turn out okay and to still be awake when Dr Who is on. Grin

knobblyknee · 22/12/2015 13:08

I dont care about any of it. I've done solo xmas, poverty stricken xmas on 30p, volunteer in a soup kitchen xmas, big xmas for loads of singles xmas, xmas with/without kids.
Its all good. And if it isnt there'll be another one along in a year to make up for it Xmas Grin

Lightbulbon · 22/12/2015 13:13

I treat Xmas like going out to a nice restaurant in terms of clothes/hair/ make up.

I was [shocked] when I went to ILs and they were in casual clothes.

And yes my dcs have been counting every day.

fufulina · 22/12/2015 13:16

For those who don't make sure DC have the same amount spent on them, or same number of parcels - what age are your kids?

Mine would definitely notice if one had more than the other and don't really understand the value not correlating with number of presents. I am a second child though, so very aware of being very fair!

BrendaandEddie · 22/12/2015 13:21

CHRISTMAS DINNER IS JUST A PIMPED UP SUNDAY ROAST

breathes

OP posts:
BrendaandEddie · 22/12/2015 13:21

Queens speech

tv ( all shit miranda type crap)

OP posts:
BrendaandEddie · 22/12/2015 13:23

mine don't count and never have - are resigned to the karma of it all

Son needs very expensive Cricket pads - he has to have those for Xmas as otherwise we would be on the streets with amount they cost

he is cool about that

OP posts:
BrendaandEddie · 22/12/2015 13:24

i SO agree - STARTERS , its utter gluttony

OP posts:
honkinghaddock · 22/12/2015 13:24

All I care about is ds (who doesn't know it's Christmas but hates things being too christmassy) staying calm.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/12/2015 13:26

When they were younger we did try to get a sort of balance in the number of gifts. Now though, one thing that d1 wanted cost as much as about ten things for d2, so there's no way they were going to get the same amount. They are big enough and ugly enough to get that things cost different amounts.

Funinthesun15 · 22/12/2015 13:29

What I or others wear.

Pictures of others presents who is seriously interested

When we eat

If people have a snooze or not.

ThePortlyPinUp · 22/12/2015 13:33

That the presents are neatly wrapped with perfect corners.

Starters.

Colour coordination- Christmas is supposed to be garish imho.

Equal amounts of presents for each dc- they get the same amount in value.

booksrock · 22/12/2015 13:40

mt DT are 6, the present piles have to look equal and some have to match in some way (both get a shirt, book, game etc) although some presents are individual to what they like. Hopefully it will be easier when they are older.

HelenaJustina · 22/12/2015 13:41

Sprouts, bread sauce, Christmas pud, Christmas soap "specials", The Queen's Speech, any television on Christmas/Boxing Day, packaging on toys. I don't care that MIL will be miserable to matter what I do/say/buy, the atmosphere she creates has overshadowed too many events now so I just don't care any more... We may as well so what we want as she will be shitty whatever!

I do care what I wear, I like a nice outfit for Christmas! Everyone at Mass will be v smartly dressed even though it is 9am... I care that my children are polite and thank people properly.

whois · 22/12/2015 13:44

Things I do care about:
Being with family
Eating tasty food
Drinking nice wine

jay55 · 22/12/2015 13:44

What time I start drinking.

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/12/2015 13:45

I love a 'fucking starter'. It's not about stuffing more grub in your gob, it's about making the dinner more special and celebratory.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 22/12/2015 13:46

I don't care about what people wear (I put clothes on, otherwise it's a cooking hazard, but that's as far as I go). I really don't care what's on the telly. And I don't care about timings - we'll eat when we'd normally eat our dinner. None of this stupid 3 o'clock 'lunch' nonsense.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 22/12/2015 13:46

I do care about port and Bailey's. And cheese. I care deeply about cheese.

wheelofapps · 22/12/2015 13:49

We have our 'starters' at around 10/11 - ie smoked salmon and scrambles for brunch.
The 'main course' is around 3ish.
The 'Puddings' around 7ish (plus a turkey sandwich if anyone wants)

couldn't sit down to 2 or 3 courses all together now we have children.

Mind, I did once go to an EPIC 12 course Christmas Feast in Denmark.
I shall never forget it. Martin's Mum - if you ever see this (unlikely):
Jeg Elsker Dig. x
