to think you shouldn't one star review a product if you ordered it by mistake.

This is a stupid thing but it has got my goat.

I have been looking for a copy of the 1980's DVD "Monkey-the complete series". Finally found it on amazon.

There are 2 one star reviews and in both cases the Customer ordered the wrong product. In one they actually said it was their fault! It wasn't a review of the product as it wasn't the product they wanted. And it wasn't the fault of the retailer - they did look at what they were buying!

AIBU to think that if they fuck up they shouldn't blame the vendor!

I've also seen reviews where people have said something along the lines of 'haven't had chance to use this yet'.

Why leave a review then?!? Leave the reviews once you've used the item!!

ScarlettDarling · 19/12/2015 09:06

Oh wow, I loved 'monkey'...might have to go and order it now!!

BikeRunSki · 19/12/2015 09:09

I get annoyed by reviews on clothing websites that say "haven't washed this yet, so can't comment on how it washes". That's one of the main things I want to know!

Ohbehave1 · 19/12/2015 09:11

It's not cheap Scarlett. And the decent box set is out of stock. Wonder if it would still seem as good Wink

Conversely you'll sometimes see reviews of a product which is clearly a POS, with a horde of 1 and 2 star reviews and then suddenly you'll get a five star review saying "arrived very promptly" by someone who doesn't understand that it's for reviewing the product not the delivery service.

Mrscog · 19/12/2015 09:12

Oh yes and the reverse on delivery- 1* 'great product but arrived very late'

Who are these dullards?!?

TaliZorah · 19/12/2015 09:19

It's hilarious with makeup reviews. "This foundation is great but I bought the wrong colour so 1 star" Hmm

People are atupid

TaliZorah · 19/12/2015 09:20

Stupid. Thanks autocorrect...

1frenchfoodie · 19/12/2015 09:21

And all the people whe review cookbooks with comments on the appetising looking pictures but clearly have not cooked anything from them. grr.

WhereTheFuckIsWonderWoman · 19/12/2015 10:38

I agree. I read one the other day for a stereo which said they'd have liked a more retro look. So order one with a fucking retro look then Confused

sashh · 19/12/2015 11:01

I'm ot sure.

I was looking for a cookery book, in the cookery section of Amazon (I know) and ordered a book called something like "The 100 most tasty (insert type of cuisine) and when it arrived it was word puzzles.

Castrovalva · 19/12/2015 11:13

I read a great one star review of a local (very small but specialist) bike shop

It said 'one star because we travelled 2 hrs to visit this shop and it was shut when we got there'

Wtf

Who sets off on a 2 hour trip to visit a specific shop and doesn't ring beforehand to check published opening times are correct and the owner isn't off sick or something?

Then draws attention to their own stupidity by writing a bad review about it.

It's a bloody brilliant shop too.

IsabellaofFrance · 19/12/2015 11:18

A local vintage-style cafe near us got a 1 star review on trip advisor because the idiot person turned up at 4.30 when it closes at 5 and said they felt 'rushed'. The review points out the fact they knew it closed at 5 Confused.

mincepieprivateeye · 19/12/2015 12:18

We got a very large stock pot from Anazon, exactly what we needed. It had a one star review from some numpty saying it was too big, the measurements are stated in the description. They then went on say that it was very difficult to return because twice when they had taken it to the post office, it was shut, so they ended up having to keep the pot which was useless! Xmas Confused

outputgap · 19/12/2015 12:22

The Christmas purchases: "haven't given it to nephew/grandchild/as yet unborn pfb but it looks great/ comfortable/cute: 5 stars".

Arrrrggghhh.

Allthatglitter5 · 19/12/2015 12:28

Some of these are very entertaining Xmas Grin but I do feel for people trying to make a livelihood out of (say) an eBay or Etsy business and this stuff really impacts their ratings.
I have occasionally reviewed clothing too soon - partly because some sites KEEP sending blooming requests until you do it

Ohbehave1 · 19/12/2015 13:10

Sashh. Your issue was completely different. You ordered a book on food and their obviously delivered the wrong book.

Not reading the description, ordering the wrong thing, and then saying the thing is rubbish isn't giving a review of the product. It's a review of the service which is different. .

OP posts:
AnyoneButSanta · 19/12/2015 16:45

If the description on Sassh's book was ambiguous then it's a public service to post a review saying that it's not what an unwarned buyer might expect. I'm not sure about whether you should 1 it - I guess it depends how bad the misdescription was. The advantage of a 1 review is that it does draw the eye.

Ohbehave1 · 19/12/2015 17:52

Anyone. Sashh is a bit ambiguous. It doesn't say if the book was misdescribed or if it was just sent out wrong.
