Horton My sister lost weight quite slowly over a period of two years. She is still as she puts it a little padded out. She is now a 14 but was previously a 20.

SquirrelledAway · 06/01/2016 10:13

Horton I lost 35 pounds over 5 months at the age of 47, and apart from my face being a bit more wrinkly (less fat to pad it out) I didn't have a problem. I did the 30 Day Shred to tone up at the same time as 5:2 and plenty of walking / cycling.

LeSquigh · 06/01/2016 11:58

This thread has massively inspired me to lose the weight that I have put on over the last year or so.

For a long time I was a size 16 and weighed about 13.5 stone. After having a baby I lost nearly four stone and that's gradually crept back on. I'm currently at around 12 stone and want to lose two stone. I am starting today.

Well done to everyone who has lost the weight and is happier for doing so. I felt SO much more confident when I was a size 10. I can't wait to get back into those jeans.

toffeeboffin · 06/01/2016 15:42

brokenbiscuit I'm around 165 and it would take 10 pounds to lose a dress size.

HelenaDove · 06/01/2016 17:28

Im a size 14 now and there is no way i can drop any lower (i was a size 28)

because im a 32 bra back size and our department store only goes down to a 30 and i keep losing off my back. No one can control where the weight comes off. Im looking at losing my small Christmas gain to get back where i was and then maintaining.

Im basically a brunette Christina Hendricks.

I lost six stone over a yr by calorie counting and walking with an increasingly heavy rucksack, a lot.

I felt fitter and it was fun to get back into some.old clothes. As luck would have it I had black-tie party near the end and it was nice to see people reactions as many hadn't known I was dieting. The main purpose was to.improve my fertility and I stopped the diet when I got pregnant. I'm now just restarting with 3 stone to lose.

Generally I get worse reactions when I'm slimmer as people assume I'm not competent at my job and think my partners a cradle snatcher! This time he is dieting too as he didn't like that either. Smile

Just placemarking as the diet started yesterday and this looks like the thread to read.

knowler · 07/01/2016 15:14

Fascinating and motivational thread, thanks. I'm just at the start, 1stone gone out of a total of 6! It's the first time I've ever felt motivated to lose it and this is a great help :)

Paddypaws3 · 07/01/2016 21:00

This is so motivating to read, thank you and congratulations to everyone that has posted a success story.

Can I ask about loose skin? I am very overweight (size 24). I've had a set of very large twins and my stomach is a wreck Blush. I worry that if when I lose a large amount of weight, it will look even worse. Don't get me wrong, I know that bikini days are over Grin but the thought of all that loose skin...

Brokenbiscuit · 07/01/2016 21:54

I worry about the loose skin too, but I'd still rather lose the fat! Grin

ToastedOrFresh · 07/01/2016 23:53

My skin was a little loose, just around my tummy and I suspect my thighs after my seven and a half stone weight loss which took three and a half years to loose. (To bad I put it all back on four years ago, but I'm having a crack at loosing it all again. Hope springs eternal.)

The bit of loose skin around my thighs preventing thigh gap was galling as I'd lost so much weight just for my legs to look the same shape just smaller. However, no more thigh chafing so that suited me just fine.

The little bit of loose skin on my tummy was hardly worth worrying about. I would rather have that than the permanent scar of an operation. I'll save that for when I need an operation should one be required for a genuine medical reason in the future.

It was no where near as bad as these people you see on t.v. who need post rapid weight loose skin surgery.

Note to self: loose weight slowly, give your body a chance to get used to it. I knew someone who must have lost their weight quite rapidly as their arms still had these flappy bingo wings due to loose skin despite the weight loss.

I put the loose skin down to my age and the lost weight. The elasticity of skin diminishes with age. So weight loss plus middle age is probably going to loose skin. That's not an excuse not to loose weight, though !

HelenaDove · 08/01/2016 00:10

I have loose skin due to weight loss I have a clingy dress i still cant wear cos it shows the line of loose skin around my stomach But i have a small waist so the fit and flare 1950s style is perfect for me.
