To let you all know that disabled are having their benefits cut

The DWP has today launched a consultation aimed at cutting the number of people eligible for the daily living component of personal independence payment (PIP) by up to 35%. The cuts will be aimed at claimants who qualify for PIP because of their use of aids and appliances and may include replacing awards with discretionary voucher payments.
The press release and consultation document published today claim that 35% of all daily living allowance awards are based solely on the claimant’s need to use aids and appliances.
This is flawed as
A)often disabled people require assistant, however Atos are only scoring then as needing an aid.
B) even if you disability needs listed in the pip form can be met by aids most people will have many other needs not mentioned on the form.
To suggest the only extra cost of being disabled for those claimants, is the cost of aids is absurd and insulting.
The consultation ends on 29 January 2016, conveniently over the Christmas New year Period.
Please if you can take the time to respond.

It is really sad to read a lot of these posts re PIP. Just want to share a good news story!
My Dh is within the group born before 8th April 1948 who claimed DLA before they were 65. He was receiving low rate care and high rate mobility. We had a letter stating that as long as his circumstances did not change he would keep his benefits for life.
A few weeks ago he was given a DS1500 for a progressive illness so I rang up to ask for a DLA review form and they warned me his benefits may be reduced or stopped after the review. THIS WAS WRONG INFORMATION.
He just had to tick the care claim form to say he had a DS1500 and with regards to the mobility he just had to state that nothing has changed since his last review in 2005.
Within a fortnight he had the award letter stating he had high rate care for 3 years (then reviewed) and the high rate mobility for life. This award was backdated for 2 months. VERY IMPRESSED having seen and heard what younger people are having to do to get PIP.
I am now claiming carers' allowance as I am under state pension age - for this benefit there is an earnings limit but no limit on private pension income of which I have 2 pensions.
This government does seem very keen to keep pensioners happy - noted that the only benefit being increased in April is the State Pension!
