To not pick her son up

My friend has asked me to have her DStonight. My two kids are really pleased, love his company.

She is a single parent and I love having him.

She agreed that she would meet me in a town halfway between us and I would drop off tomorrow morning.

I drive, she doesn't and would have to get two buses to get to me. Drive will be 45 mins each way for me to pick up.

She has now cancelled due to rain and having to get two busses and asked will I pick up.

Is the right thing to do support someone who doesn't drive and just do drop off and pick up or am I a mug?

I really don't know what to do, first few times I didn't mind but when she isn't prepared to make any effort it really grates on me.

Good for you OP - what did she say ?

rollonthesummer · 05/12/2015 16:08

Is your friend still going out tonight? How is she getting there??

What did she say to you when you said you felt taken advantage of?

Badbadtromance · 05/12/2015 16:20

Free loading non drivers do my head in

Aeroflotgirl · 05/12/2015 16:29

badbad how insulting and tarring all non drivers with the same brush. I never have a lift unless it's offered, I offer petrol money or treat the driver. Usually I get a bus or a taxi, like normal people.

rollonthesummer · 05/12/2015 16:33

Badbadtromance isn't tarring all non- drivers with the same brush! Just the free loading ones!

Aeroflotgirl · 05/12/2015 16:37

What would you read freeloading non drivers as, roll she could have said those non drivers, who freeload.

WhereYouLeftIt · 05/12/2015 16:54

I would read 'freeloading non drivers' as 'drivers who freeload' in the same way as I would read 'female drivers' as 'drivers who are female'. Not all drivers are female. Not all non drivers are freeloading. It's describing a subset of non drivers, not all.

rollonthesummer · 05/12/2015 17:04

If I said I didn't like motorway driving because I hate speeding motorists, that wouldn't mean I hated all motorists-just speeding ones...

DoreenLethal · 05/12/2015 17:05

So why did you bother asking if you were going to do it anyway?

Roygrace · 05/12/2015 17:35

Because I was trying to put a boundary down Doreen. I was unsure if I was being unreasonable.

My mum keeps telling me the world needs people to do an extra good deed. Which is fine if I'm not a mug.

Forgot to say she is going to pick up tomoz. So all good really

But I do think she is a freeloader friend but worth it in other ways. Or she is really stupid and doesn't think I can't make my mind up

I wouldn't be driving 45 mins each way.

Sallystyle · 05/12/2015 17:55

Don't listen to Doreen she is a ray of sunshine today.

I think you handled it well OP.

DoreenLethal · 05/12/2015 17:56

Don't listen to Doreen she is a ray of sunshine today.

Oh do wind your neck in. Nobody say anything on here these days without being attacked.

Sallystyle · 05/12/2015 17:57

Well if it has happened to you on two threads in one day you may want t o look at why.

Roygrace · 05/12/2015 18:42

I know but you came across a bit of a knob to be fair Doreen

Roygrace · 05/12/2015 18:45
