AIBU to think there's no decent Christmas Presents to buy under £15

And there aren't a lot over £15 either!

I've been on all the usual websites. Amazon, Firebox, Iwoot, etc etc and they're all selling the same unimaginative plastic (et al) tat.

It's just total tat!

FFS

Or am I being unreasonable (hopefully!) and you can point me in the direction of some decent, reasonably priced, Christmas gifts under £15 (ish).

(Specifically, things that are fun on the day to play with, but aren't just total pap)

TY

OK I've scanned my Christmas spreadsheet - calligraphy set (about £12) - might be amusing for one of them (both my dc wanted one - ds is 15 and dd 13), space coaster marble run - under £ 15. Various "Bop it" games are under £15. But tbh these may be ok for the 14 and possibly 18 year olds but not really for the rest. Juggling balls maybe?

DisappointedOne · 04/12/2015 15:39

I don't understand your post, OP said she had main presents covered, not all presents, a lot of DC get main present/s plus more at Christmas, it's not got anything to do with impressing people?*

Might be standard for your own children, but others?!

haggisaggis · 04/12/2015 15:42

Have a look at Maplin - you may find something there.

TheOnlyWayToEatSandwiches · 04/12/2015 15:46

They've had juggling balls in the past but you got me thinking and I found this shop, this page:

www.anti-gravity.co.uk/acatalog/Indoor_Fun.html

Some much more interesting looking things there than the previously mentioned sites.

Found this that looked interesting also for the nerd(s) but is more than the cash I've allocated per person:

She is giving them cash, but wants to spend £15 each so they have something to 'play with' why not just give it to them as extra cash? If they say they want money because they are saving for things, mother give them cash.

The fun on the day aspect makes it harder.

There are plenty of good presents under £15 in general. I've just bought someone an Aerolatte milk whisk nice chai for £12 and someone else nail polish for £12.99.

Buxtonstill · 04/12/2015 15:55

I don't celebrate Christmas.

GoneAndDone · 04/12/2015 15:56

*and nice chai

DisappointedOne · 04/12/2015 16:12

For your own children, yes. Making them for nieces and nephews and according to another thread grandchildren isn't mainstream in the slightest.

DinosaursRoar · 04/12/2015 16:25

NeedAScarf - yes they are, but did you miss she's buying second gifts for her BIL&SIL and DNs, not her own DCs? I would buy several for my DCs, but only one each for my DNs and sibling/DH's sibling and various ILs.

Ah NeedAScarf - you've miss-read, easy done, it wasn't the most clearly worded - she said her SIL, her SIL's DH (so BIL) and their DCs - so her DNs. It's one girl and 2 boys, but she was refering to her SIL's DCs, not her own. Smile

BabyGanoush · 04/12/2015 16:28

popcorn makers always a success for older kids and teens, only £15 and a proper gift to unwrap, and it works. My 10 yr old wants one badly

BabyGanoush · 04/12/2015 16:29

and lots of kids (even teens) love rubber band guns, and they are fun straight away.

What about TKMaxx? Was in yesterday and they had Jamie Oliver sets for £12.99, Michael Kors hat and scarf set around £15, lovely candle sets and Park Candles for £9.99 which retail at £30. Got my GS a chess set he asked for. Some TK's are like jumble sales I'll admit, but our local one is pretty tidy and clean with nice staff. Go and have a root, you'll need plenty of time though. Sorry if someone has suggested this already.

katienana · 04/12/2015 16:37

Get pie face or the imitator splat. We've got it and it's childish but fun. Provide the squirty cream as well. For fun on the day you might have to go with tat.

DisappointedOne · 04/12/2015 16:37

None of those are "fun", are they?

DinosaursRoar · 04/12/2015 16:41

NeedAscarf - easy done, it's badly worded.

Nope, not fun - but surely DNs will get other gifts, not just from the OP, and are teens, so doesn't need something fun to play with on Christmas morning from her? OP, really, their mum will have got them things as well as the money. They will have stuff from others, perhaps a board game for them all to play on Christmas day and something to open like some chocies.

Two of my adult DDs (they are in their 20's) are into these adult colouring books. One of these and some gel pens are well under £15. They are having them in their stocking and I know they'll have fun with them
