to ask where's the best place to go for a bra fitting?

Been having some soreness in my left breast, saw Docor today who ruled out anything sinister but she said to make sure my bra is properly measured as wearing the wrong size can cause pain.

Have previously been to M&S and Debenhams but didn't find them particularly knowledgeable.

Any other recommendations?

Find your most local independent stockist for the best fit. Even better if it's run by doughty older women whose boobs could double as ship prows!

Independent bra shop if possible, Bravissimo said that I was a 32D when I was more like a 34C.

Also try non wired if you can, helps with pain.

John Lewis are normally good if you don't have a bravissimo and have some slightly cheaper options.

Rigby and Peller. Evewateringly expensive, perfect fit. I am a scruffy arse on the outside but have perfect cantilevering on the inside. And a good fit really changes your shape, makes whatever you have look a lot better!

Bravissimo and Rigby & Peller - the latter are hugely expensive (as you'd expect from the Queen's corsetiers) but my God, you get the quality and service you pay for.

Don't set foot in M&S.

I thought Bravissimo are for more generously-endowed ladies - am I wrong? I'd like to get fitted properly, but I'm on the small size, so I haven't tried them (usually just make do with M&S). Should I go & talk to Bravissimo, then?

I'm not sure I have a local independent - though I'm sure there must be one if I hunt.

Bravissimo start at a D cup - but properly fitted a large number of women are in that range so probably still worth it if you were wearing a B/C cup before and a little uncomfortable.

I've never had any success with self-measuring even if following to the letter.

Being rather well-proportioned in that area Bravissimo it is! (and Rigby & Peller when I finally lose some weight.

Rigby and Peller definitely. I would not have believed the difference a properly fitting bra makes. I was wearing 36C and was 32E in R&P. Yes, they are very, very expensive, but once you know the corr ct size, you can experiment with other makes. I try to buy in the R&P sale and have some cheap bras that fit nearly as well. Cost per wear is really good, as I'm so much more comfortable in the R&P ones, I wear them all the time.

Rigby and Peller shop sell the same brands as bravissimo.

Yes their own brand is expensive but you can still buy other stuff.

I go there to get fitted, as I have since I was 13, buy a bra then wait for the sales in Bravissimo etc

If your an unusual size you tend to get good sale stuff. I was a 32G, way back before people realises their 34B was actually a 30DD or E so got good bargains!

scripted you're probably right - even M&S has me in a 32D - I just have typical post-baby saggy boobs (OK, not very post-baby, as DC are now teenagers).

I'll give Bravissimo a go - and if that's successful, maybe I'll try and talk DD into going in for a proper fitting, which she has so far been too Blush for.

I have been to bravissimo and they were fantastic. Really helpful. The first bra I tried fit perfectly and the lady doing the fitting didn't even measure me!!!

Rigby and Peller sell all the usual brands. So Gossard, Fantasie etc

Prices are usually £25-£40

I believe the Rigby and Peller brand are around £60 but it's been a few years since I've had one.
