Viola what is this wall hung tree of which you speak? I have very little floor space where a tree will sensibly go. Have got a reasonable sized bare branch, put gloss paint on it so it looks snowed on got bored painting it and then hung lights and decorations from it. It has gone in a weighted vase, so is very narrow at the bottom, which was the appeal for me.

pookamoo · 01/12/2015 20:13

Near us you can hire a tree!

Here is a link :)

munkisocks · 01/12/2015 20:14

Can you still get the ones than hang on the wall? My gran had one for years, was literally half a tree lol. Maybe make one out of cardboard or paper and have you baby colour if in if they're old enough then hang on wall. Paper chains for decorations.

pookamoo · 01/12/2015 20:15

Although I have just looked at the prices. ouch. I paid £15 for a 6 foot real tree at a pick your own place last year!

If you don't want a tree, then don't have one! Get a poinsettia instead or something.

pullofthemoon · 01/12/2015 20:16

Hehe! We do have Christmas Yankee candles - don't haunt us yet!

Yabvvvvvu, are you my mother by in chance.

gamerchick · 01/12/2015 20:18

You can get a little 3 ft thing from asda for a fiver, stick some batteries in and it has lights. One piece of tinsel and a couple of little crackers and it's sorted. You can put it anywhere.

pullofthemoon · 01/12/2015 20:19

Well it's lovely crabbit, but how do you get it up? It's the cost not the space, really.

YANBU.

We're not having one either as neither of us can be arsed to put one up, DD is a teenager so not have fussed and we're also away for Christmas.

We're probably going to hang some tinsel and lights along a couple of our beams in the living room.

blibblibs · 01/12/2015 20:22

Amazon have lots of wall sticker christmas trees from as little as £2 but if you don't want one then you don't need too.
( I'm not sure I'd make it through December without one though [santa])

RoseWithoutAThorn · 01/12/2015 20:24

I did one like this in the hall last year. It was lovely and unusual.

Crabbitface · 01/12/2015 20:28

OOOH Rose I love that. Gorge! Sorry Pull I'm getting mixed up with posts and thought you were the person who would have to put up a tree in the middle of their living room due to lack of space. FWIW, I don't think you are being unreasonable. It's your house, your christmas, your choice of decs or lack of decs.

RoseWithoutAThorn · 01/12/2015 20:34

crabbit I used fishing gut between the twigs instead of fixing it to the wall and hung it up. I love it Grin

OhSoggyBiscuit · 01/12/2015 20:34

I got a little 3 foot prelit tree from Tesco for £5- it's pretty small and doesn't take up much room. I also got a cheapish big pack of baubles and a cheap tree topper and the whole thing didn't cost more then about £15.

Bambooshoots14 · 01/12/2015 20:36

Yabu and like Scrooge! It's christmasssssss

pullofthemoon · 01/12/2015 20:53

I'm not being like Scrooge, silly billy Wink I do like Christmas but quite honestly I think I have concluded that this year at any rate a tree is too much hassle. I had a real one in 2013 and it was still in the garden haunting me in January Blush

We're not having one or decorating at all.
I imagine we will in a couple of years when the baby will appreciate it. Seems pointless before then.

pullofthemoon · 01/12/2015 20:58

But the prices, Infinity - one of those was £79!

na, duct tape for shape, and blue thingy for baubles, or even better, on a white sheet (bought on ebay or something)

InQuiteAChristmasPickle · 01/12/2015 21:03

YANBU if you don't want to. My mum doesn't want to so she doesn't.

I personally couldn't have Christmas without a tree. I put ours up today and I love it.

Re the pretty branches on Pinterest - every year my Great Uncle goes for a walk in the woods, finds a big branch, spray paints it silver and then props it up in the corner of the room. I think he puts a few baubles on but he mainly uses it to skewer Christmas cards on the branches. He's 86! Xmas Grin
