Deserts sweetened with dates / coconut sugar / xylatol or what ever pretentious sweetener aren't healthy

What is it with this craze to not use sugar? These deserts are still deserts and are no more healthier right?

Xylitol is a sweetner and (apparently) good your teeth.

So it would have less calories in.

Not so sure about dates and coconut sugar. I have tried them not overly impressed.

I try to avoid sweeteners and sugar (not rigidly though).
