This is not a stealth boast!

What age did your children stop napping??

Dd(2.8) still has a 2 hour nap around 1. She is then in bed for around 6 sleeping through till 7.30.

When can I expect her to start dropping her nap??

Your DD sleeps 15.5 hours out of 24? what are you doing for the rest of the time, making her dig a deep hole while learning the 9 times table???? Envy

longdiling · 29/11/2015 13:44

Ha ha ha!! My kids never slept that much. They dropped their naps at around 2 and probably still only slept 11 hours a night. I have no experience of actual sleeping children so I can't advise you OP, you lucky thing!

9 times table? Don't be ridiculous! She's on her 15 x table now Wink

It was somewhere between the age of 2 and 3. I can't remember now. She never slept as much as yours though!

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 29/11/2015 14:20

DS is 3.6 and still naps during the day for 1.5 to 3 hours. He then goes to bed at 7.30pm and wakes at some point between 6.15am and 7am. If he doesn't have his nap he is unbearable in the afternoons!

onecurrantbun1 · 29/11/2015 15:49

My DD1 dropped hers around 3.5, although at 4 she usually has one hour once per week to catch up from any late nights or busy days. However she is never asleep before 8 and up between 6.45 and 7.

Cadenza1818 · 29/11/2015 15:57

I had to stop my twins at 3.5 cos I was worried about school. They had a 2hr nap and still slept 7-7! Not a stealth boast, the other ds dropped it about 18months. The others still need more sleep than the little one!

toomuchtooold · 29/11/2015 17:00

Mine dropped theirs at 3y3m (twins) but they were showing signs of dropping it - later bedtime/bedtime battles and the nap time getting later at the same time. Also what really changed was the way they slept - from about 3y, they would be annoyed waking up and often needed to be woken up after sleeping more than 2h. I think basically they were going down for their nighttime sleep! At 3y 6m they still occasionally nap in the car but DD2, the heavier sleeper, prefers to catch up on her sleep on the weekend (yesterday 7.30pm till 10am!).

fredfredgeorgejnrsnr · 29/11/2015 17:22

That is an awful lot of sleep, well out of the ordinary (which is 11-14 hours for a 2-3 year old)!

DD had dropped her naps by 3, but then again she's at the low end of amount of sleep she needs.

HackerFucker22 · 29/11/2015 17:22

DC1 probably just before turning 3. DC2 doesn't nap as such (2 or 3 catnaps per day, 10m)

MummyPig24 · 29/11/2015 18:42

Ds1 was about 2.8 when he stopped napping regularly, would flake out on the sofa a few times a week until he was 3.

Dd had a 2 hour nap every day until she was 3.

Ds2 is 20 months and still napping for 1-2 hours a day. He would Nap more but I have to limit it or he won't go to bed till 9.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 29/11/2015 18:45

Past 3. About 3 years 3 months I guess.

She slept 11 hours or so at night.

DonkeyOaty · 29/11/2015 19:00

One of mine was still napping going into reception.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 29/11/2015 19:04

DD at about 2.10ish.
DS 17 months though every few days he will have a catch up nap. I try and have it to coincide with DD being at preschool so I get a previous hour to myself Wink

Pollyputhtekettleon · 29/11/2015 19:08

DS is 2 months off 3 and would take 3 hrs up to recently. J stopped it as I was finding it hard getting him down before 9pm. But he pretty much always sleeps the night once down. Now with just an hr relaxing on the couch (he sometimes doses off) he goes from 8-7/8. DD is an amazing sleeper.
Her naps are either 1 or two a day, 45 mins and 1.5-2.5 hrs. Then 7-7.30 at night.

Op's pants are on fire Grin

Dionysuss · 29/11/2015 20:00

DS is nearly 2. Most days he will nap for an hour after lunch, but usually has to woken to collects dds from school. He has started dropping naps, but won't go to bed in the evening earlier and is a grumpy pants at dinner .

He will sleep from 8pm to 7am usually without stirring.

CurlyBlueberry · 29/11/2015 20:02

19 months (cries in the corner) that was when his little sister was born and I could no longer lie in a darkened room with him for half an hour to get him to sleep, so he stopped bothering. Admittedly, at nearly 3 he does still nap at nursery (he goes 2 days a week) apparently he just gets his little mattress out himself, lies down on it and goes to sleep?! I think they drug him Envy

Creiddylad · 29/11/2015 20:05

DS loved his sleep. At 3 he was still having a morning and afternoon nap ar weekends, he would also sleep from 7 to 7/8. So about 16 hours a day.

DD dropped her nap at 2, if she has as much as 20 mins sleep during the day her bedtime would be put back by a couple of hours. What ever time she went to sleep she would wake at 7am.

They both quite like their sleep now they are teenagers.

Needaninsight · 29/11/2015 20:05

DD has just turned 3 and in the last week decided she doesn't want to take a nap. She was having a good 2 hours a day plus a good 12 hours at night.

She will however now drop off if I drive anywhere in the afternoon - and she was never a car sleeper particularly!

Son is still napping for a good 2 hours - he's 19 months.

Depends on the child I guess! But I reackon you've got a good few months left yet (jealous!)

PennyHasNoSurname · 29/11/2015 20:06

DD dropped hers by 2.5. Sadly as I was pregnant with dc2 then and could have done with a daily snooze. DS (14mo) still has two naps a day and is asleep by 6pm.

waitingforsomething · 29/11/2015 20:07

Mine slept 7-6.30 from 3 months old until 2.2. She then started faffing considerably in the evenings and staying awake until 9pm. This is when we cut the nap, put her to bed at 6 and she woke around 6.30 still. Never napped again apart from the odd car ride

RiverTam · 29/11/2015 20:08

DD dropped hers at about that age. She napped for 2 hours and slept for 12 at night. She's always been a good sleeper. But a stealth boast, just a fact!

RiverTam · 29/11/2015 20:08

not a stealth boast!
