To ask how much you would pay for....

Preloved baby clothes? I have a stall booked to sell loads of preloved clothes (babygrows, outfits etc) but genuinely don't know what's reasonable. All are either Gap, Next, John Lewis or debenhams and vgc...So how much would you be prepared to pay for a baby grow? Vest? Jeans? Sorry it's a boring AIBU but I need some help!!

I've always found that people want to spend next to nothing at car boots and on stalls (around £3 for a full outfit)- this maybe just where I live though.
That's why I tend to eBay the best clothes (a baby next dress tends to get £8-14) and either give away or charity the other stuff (vests, babygros etc).

EBay will tell you what people pay. Just check "Sold / Completed orders in your search.

Not much tbh. I buy second hand because I can't afford new so I'd be expecting them to be cheaper than similar outfits for sale in supermarket ranges for example.

Sort them by type and size and sell them in bundles. For example 5 babygrows size 0-3 £15.

I'm not sure how much will they go for, but try higher price in the beginning, you can always lower it after day or two.
Also, check your local fb baby stuff selling groups. They usually have examples of how to take a photo etc.

And definitely wash and iron the clothes, they will go quicker then. I once saw woman on my local group trying to sell stuff that wasn't ironed. She was selling it for 6 months. While others were selling within 2-3 days.

I would pay a couple of pounds for jeans or jumpers in good condition. Vests I wouldn't bother they are cheap to buy brand new and don't stay in good condition.
People in general want things for next to nothing. I did a car boot and all jeans and jumpers went for about a pound even hardly worn clarks/converse/vans shoes people were haggling over wanting for a pound a pair.

Nobody in their right mind will pay £15 for 5 second hand baby grows. Brand new in next is cheaper than that.

Not much to be honest. Baby clothes are pretty cheap even when new.

I mostly buy from charity shops or ebay and don't pay more than £2-£3 an item.

hampsterdam that was just an example. But just out of interest I went and checked the prices on next website. Those I saw were £15 for 2, so I think you're wrong.
Plus it's not only next. It's also John Lewis and Gap.

Most car boots around here it's about 20p per vest, up to 50p per sleep suit, snow suits/coats £1-£3, dresses £1-£1.50, trousers 50p, tops 50p.

There are a few who seem to do it as a job and they charge more and always leave with nearly as much as they came with.

Unless you have designer baby clothes you won't get much or wouldn't in my area.

Maybe make a bundle of each size and when people haggle offer to throw the vests babygros in for free? As pp said vests and babygros are so cheap to buy you will get very little for them but the might bulk up a bundle olor something. You can call them pre loved (am I the only one who hates that phrase?) all you like but they are second hand so you won't get much but you should get enough to help start their wardrobe for the next season

Well maybe not next (£7.50 each rip off) but you can get brand new 5 for £15 or cheaper in lots of places.
Personally never bothered with second hand baby grows or vests. Asda and sainsburys have lovely good quality baby clothes at good prices.

I remember buying 8 baby vests from next for £2 at an NCT sale. £15 for 5 second hand baby grows is ridiculous, no matter what brand they are.

You won't get much for the basic items, but you may be able to charge a little more for thing like Christmas outfits.

I pay max £1 per baby grow, jumper, trousers, £2 for nice dresses, 50p per tights, vests, shirts etc. Maybe up to £5 for nice snowsuits or designer stuff, or really nice items.

Not much, people give really nice things away.

For the love of God, please don't call them 'preloved'.

It makes it sound as though you're re-homing puppies, rather than getting rid of your old baby clothes.

I agree with a PP who said you'll get an idea from Ebay.

20-30p per vest.
50p-£1 per sleepsuit
75p-£3 per trousers and tops and the £3 is only if I really want it and in brilliant condition.

Be prepared to be haggled for bundles though.

I wouldn't buy second hand babygros unless they were really cheap, think £2 for 10. They are cheap in the supermarket and I don't care if they last or not. Trousers, dresses, jumpers about £2-3, up to £5 for something really nice.

Not much. Sell in bundles but I would say £5 for 5 babygrows, a cardigan and 5 vests for example

Also I know it's each person opinion but next/ gap/ John Lewis are basic cheap clothing imo. Cheap multipacks. I would only pay slightly more if actual decent brands. To me that's like caramel baby, petite bateau, polarn o pyret, katvig, Cambridge baby etc. Where a new babygrow would be £30-45 so £8 second hand is more reasonable.
