Bought DH a Fitbit Charge HR for Christmas a few weeks ago when it was a really good price. He has mentioned a number of times that he would like one but has never actually shown any real interest in buying one. Was bloody chuffed that I had managed to come up with something he actually wanted and was looking forward to him opening it!

Tonight he decides to start searching Amazon's lightning deals to get ideas of things he might like to buy tomorrow if he got a good enough deal. We don't need ANYTHING! I am generally ignoring him until he suddenly pipes up with "do you know I might buy a Fitbit charge HR if it came in at the right price - you know the one with the heart rate monitor? - I think I'll keep an eye out for that"

Are you bloody joking me?!?! What the hell will I do if he actually buys one?!

WIBU to hide his phone & iPad and unplug the modem (or whatever it's called these days)

My DH has had so many packages delivered the past few days! Amazon just dropped off new electric toothbrushes now. With Bluetooth for what exactly!

Hahaha! That has actually made me properly giggle! Does he need music to help him brush his teeth?! What a weird product!

Meanwhile - DH is still Amazon surfing despite us needing absolutely nothing!

I feel your pain! DH has just bought what I'd planned to get him for Christmas. I asked if that was going to be my gift to him, and he looked astonished - nope- I just wanted one, he said. argh.

and yes, unplug the router, unless he'd then use 3g on his phone, and still buy it!

Can one of you come round here and switch off my wifi and confiscate my phone, I can't stop spending.

We have rule in our house. No buying after mid-November...just in case. You could try the "why not wait until the sales after Christmas"

Or, just tell him. I know it will spoil the surprise but you are adults. Or say you mentioned to someone else that he wants one and he might get it for Christmas.

I'd just tell him you got him one already. He's an adult, the surprise element of presents isn't as important. He'll still be pleased you listened to him and got him something he really wanted and he'll be able to look forward to it. I would be annoyed at myself if I inadvertently ruined DH's present to me and wasted money by buying it myself beforehand, personally I'd rather know what he was planning than be put in that situation.

I told my dh last week not to buy anything for himself now until after xmas.

The only Black Friday "bargains' I have purchased are Mils soap and a bottle of whisky.

I'm very strict now, if it isn't on the list™ and more than 35% cheaper, it doesn't get purchased and I organise other stuff like volunteering to get out the house and feel less like a conspicuous consumer, and not waste money

I could tell him (or just make a very pointed comment about not buying anything just in case) but I really don't want to stamps feet like a petulant child Other than the small token gift the DC have bought him (a stunningly wonderful game called poo-head) and the jokey secret-Santa from my side of the family this will be his only gift as neither of our families do adult gifts anymore, (Apart from the aforementioned secret Santa) and I just wanted to treat him. We often don't do particularly exciting gifts for each other and I was chuffed to have bought him something he wanted but I thought he would never actually spend the money on himself.

I have repeated over and over to the DC that they aren't getting anymore books, toys, treats or anything at all (even if they are buying them with their own money) until after Christmas but I honestly didn't think I needed to say it to DH - he hates shopping!

Is he likely to buy it at work or is he home today? Could you both go out somewhere so he won't be internet shopping?

So I have been out all day at a funeral (2 hours drive away so was away early this morning and not long home now) and DH has done the school runs and then worked from home in between. He hasn't bought the Fitbit - which is great... because he has now decided he wants the newest version which is apparently about £150 and it wasn't reduced - which is not so great. He'll be getting the one I bought him regardless and he'll be bloody grateful for it!
