to find the House of Fraser Christmas advert just............... naff and to dislike the grabbiness of it.

I really don't like it. I am sure it is meant to be edgy and alternative (in as much as a major department store can be either of those things) but I find it self-conscious and naff and it actually illustrats - ironically they might say but I don't think so- the grabbiness of Christmas and how self-absorbed and entitled many people are.

Oh god yes. Dh and I loathe it! Who exactly is it aimed at? Pile.of.crap.

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/11/2015 11:58

I quite like it, nice to see an ad avoiding the old pull at the heartstrings shtick. It does seem a bit edgy for cosy old House of Fraser though.

As for it being grabby, every ad is grabby. That's the point Grin

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/11/2015 11:59

The worst ad was last year's offering from Sainsbury's. Using trench warfare to flog sprouts and Christmas pud. Now that was tacky.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/11/2015 14:19

oh god Mitzy I had wiped that from my memory spools

it was SHOCKING

ephemeralfairy · 27/11/2015 14:22

I love it. I like the music, the dancing, everything. I HATE the sentimental ones with a fiery passion. I am a bit of a Christmas refusenik though and am skint this year, so I won't be venturing into any shops at all. It is very relaxing!

gamerwidow · 27/11/2015 14:29

I like it in the sense that it's well choreographed and I like that style of dance. It is grabby though and the whole 'your Christmas your rules' thing files against spirit of peace and harmony Christmas is supposed to be about.

see I agree with this

but I also think John Lewis and the like making weepy ads to get people to buy ipads and stupid shite is also against the spirit of Christmas, too
