to find the House of Fraser Christmas advert just............... naff and to dislike the grabbiness of it.

I really don't like it. I am sure it is meant to be edgy and alternative (in as much as a major department store can be either of those things) but I find it self-conscious and naff and it actually illustrats - ironically they might say but I don't think so- the grabbiness of Christmas and how self-absorbed and entitled many people are.

I hate it, not that keen on Christmas adverts but that one is really bad, hate the bit at the table. Awful

ootsideinbacktaefront · 26/11/2015 22:27

I love it Smile

LoveArtDeco · 26/11/2015 22:29

Oh I like it. Love the music.

LuluJakey1 · 26/11/2015 22:36

celtic yes, uncomfortable too.

Far better than the sentimental shit from other companies.

boocha · 26/11/2015 22:55

It's my favourite, I love it.

Grilledaubergines · 26/11/2015 22:57

It's my favourite Christmas ad this year. Bit different, no sentimental perfect Christmas shit.

LazySusan11 · 26/11/2015 23:00

Where is all the Christmas music? Have we become so pc we are no longer able to enjoy a Christmas advert with Christmas music?!

TwoSmellyDogs · 26/11/2015 23:07

The bloody Morrison's one is currently giving me the red rage. I think it's Morrison's. "These are a few of my favourite things" being sung by someone who sounds like she's got a turkey bone stuck in her throat and a large carrot up her fundament. Who is she? Anyway. It's ghastly!

TheJoyOfSpecs · 27/11/2015 00:03

I love it!

leccybill · 27/11/2015 00:10

I really like the HoF one, it's so visual, it's a treat for the eyes. Wouldn't make me buy anything from there though.

Frostycake · 27/11/2015 00:10

God thats awful. cringey and naff. Like something Superdrug did in 1999.

Really just try-hard and very uncomfortable to watch with all the snarling people. Aimed at X-factor fans I think.

I like Sainsburys ad the best so far this year.

leccybill · 27/11/2015 00:12

Tesco haven't exactly blown the budget this year have they. I do find them quite funny though. The son makes me laugh.

Hillfarmer · 27/11/2015 00:14

I like it too.

PerspicaciaTick · 27/11/2015 00:17

It's the best Christmas ad I've seen on TV.
I enjoyed the Aldi take on the Man in the Moon - much better then the original.

Most peculiar adverts have to go to Laterooms.com - the pig, angel and christmas tree reversing a car into a cabinet.

RonaldMcDonald · 27/11/2015 00:25

I adore it. It is the only decent Christmas ad
Love the way they have done the song and the Christmas table is perfect

gaggiagirl · 27/11/2015 00:44

Its pure shite. Its not even Christmassy and its bastard Christmas.
I dont mind the Tesco ones, they are a bit funny.
I laugh my arse off at the son holding the advocaat saying ' ah just lurve waaaane' Grin

sashh · 27/11/2015 08:07

I love it.

Not everyone has or wants the big family do.

lilyb84 · 27/11/2015 08:19

Christmas aside I don't like it, but then I'm not the target audience as I rarely go shopping and have probably set foot in HOF once in my life. As a Christmas ad, I don't really get the message behind it - surely Christmas is one of the only times of year you can't really do what you want (if MN threads are anything to go by)?! And it's not really about just getting everything you want?

I may have just missed the point. I tend to go and make a drink / some food / do anything other than watch the TV when it comes on...

Gatekeeper · 27/11/2015 08:26

I hate it... i find it ugly, hard and soul-less

where's the joy?

Yoksha · 27/11/2015 09:35

Love the song. Not this version tho' when I first saw it, I thought I'd gone back 30yrs. and was viewing a bad 80's version of Dusty's hit. Very aggressive. But for me it's captured the essence of what this time of year means

ChristmasZombie · 27/11/2015 09:54

No, don't like it.

sakura · 27/11/2015 10:00

Liked it Blush
I too hate the sentimental ones pretending not to peddle shit, when that's really all they're doing.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/11/2015 10:10

I like it-haven't seen it on the telly because they haven't put it on in the middle of gogglebox

I don't mind the table bit. Mind you last year I sat at our table on my own while everyone else ran after the dog, who vaulted the fence like a romanian gymnast and then did a massive shit on next doors lawn. Nowt says Christmas less than your dog doing a shit on the neighbours property imo, so this looks positively dripping with festive cheer to me

that said it won't tempt me into House of Fraser. I'm not 60

TPel · 27/11/2015 10:10

It is trying just a bit too hard. You are a mid range department store ffs.

That said I don't watch adverts at all if I can help it. I pause the tv or change channel.
