To wonder why weather presenters seem to wear evening wear to present the weather?

Mainly local ones. Current one has a nifty lace and black number. One yesterday on the national new had a black one with a completely sheer yoke and no bra.

Being a person with no life I wonder about this every single day. Grin they seem to confuse formal and evening wear.

Eno makes her own clothes ? Wow.

thecraftyfox · 29/11/2015 09:16

I used to work with Eno*. Don't remember if she made her own clothes but she was always really nicely dressed and just a genuinely nice warm person

*not in weather/news/media. Totally different field

Fatherwishmas · 29/11/2015 09:38

I like that they dress up, they always have Havent they?

I knew a weather lady, she got a clothing allowance as part of her role

SwedishEdith · 29/11/2015 12:21

Grin @ Eno can barely strong a sentence together

Orangeanddemons · 29/11/2015 12:58

I like that they dress up too...just not in evening wear.

Judith always looks like she's wearing her clothes two sizes to small. As my mother would have said ' that's all girded on her'

There was a blonde one, probably late 20s, who was slightly plump and wore some terribly tight clothes. Her hair seemed naturally flaxen blonde and was long, but I heard that she was told she wasn't allowed to wear it down. Almost seemingly out of revenge, she would scrape it back into Heidi-style plaits. Can't for the life of me remember her name.

RhiWrites · 29/11/2015 14:15

They have really strict rules about what to wear.

We thought this showed a bit too much.

SwedishEdith, that typo must have been Eno's revenge for the libellous comment ..

ComposHatComesBack · 29/11/2015 21:28

Christ alight Judith Ravelston on BBC Scotland. It looks like she's on her way to a bondage club after reading the weather. Actually it looks like she's fresh into s&m and has borrowed someone else's fettish gear for the evening and that someone is two dress sizes smaller. The effect is somewhat akin to a badly set PVC jelly.

Cutecat78 · 29/11/2015 21:29

I cannot stand that women on GMB - she is so irritatingly smug.

viioletsarentblue · 29/11/2015 22:46

OP, I've been wondering the same question for years. Confused

Why do female weather presenters nearly always look as if they're on their way either to an 80's wedding or a Christmas party?

The clothes always look too shiny, sparkly and tight.
As you say, I think they confuse formal wear and evening wear.
Or something.
Tis a mystery.

There's one particular weather presenter who wears some sort of contraption strapped to her back, underneath her clothes.
It makes her look as if she has a hunch back.

Sallyingforth · 29/11/2015 22:58

They ALL wear that little box on the back. It's a wireless device.

MaisieDotes · 29/11/2015 22:59

I'd go clubbing with our weather woman any time- check out Jean Byrne of Ireland's national TV station, RTE.

Those are some of her more conservative looks Grin

Paul Hudson from Look North always has a nicely co-ordinated shirt/tie combo look going on. He must be gutted that Burtons in Beverley closed down. I've always thought that he would have made a good jockey. No idea why.
