To wonder why weather presenters seem to wear evening wear to present the weather?

Mainly local ones. Current one has a nifty lace and black number. One yesterday on the national new had a black one with a completely sheer yoke and no bra.

Being a person with no life I wonder about this every single day. Grin they seem to confuse formal and evening wear.

In London some ten years ago the local weather presenter was the opposite - she always looked quite scruffy, and sometimes as if she hadn't even brushed her hair. I liked that, as I myself am quite scruffy. I have just Googled her and she looks a good deal smarter now.

clam · 26/11/2015 11:51

Not that I can bear to watch it nowadays, but the Loose Women are beginning to look like pantomime dames with the amount of slap they have on. Or department store beauty counter ladies.

And on a side issue, is anyone else getting the absolute RAGE about the GMB weather girl Laura's overuse of the phrase "heading through?" Saddo that I am, I counted 6 times in one bulletin last week. "... and as we head through the day..." etc

PrimalLass · 26/11/2015 15:16

Judith on BBC Scotland is famous for this.

Shefali on Midlands today has a dress that makes her look like a flinstone

wol1968 · 26/11/2015 15:27

I can't understand why the female ones (never the men) all say 'temretures' when last time I heard the word 'temperature' had a clearly audible 'p' in it. Does it make the microphone explode when a woman utters too many consonants or something? Confused

clam · 26/11/2015 16:01

Rachel Riley on Countdown often looks like she's off out clubbing too.

SiegeofEnnis · 26/11/2015 16:30

The East Midlands female weather presenters do go for a weird sort of 'cocktails-but-not-quite-sure-of-the-dresscode' look. It looks particularly odd when it's winter and they're standing in front of a storm system looking slightly underclad - especially one woman, who is very, very thin and always looks cold.

One of them always wears dresses with little cap sleeves, as if that was an actual dresscode. 'Cap sleeves must be worn.'

PurpleDaisies · 26/11/2015 16:32

I know exactly which ones you mean siege. I miss Des-he was cool.

Rowgtfc72 · 26/11/2015 21:06

We have Paul too and the lovely Keeley. She always looks nice but not overdressed, although coming from Grimsby, what she wears could be mistaken for posh evening wear Grin

WipsGlitter · 26/11/2015 21:10

skoda DP and I frequently comment on what Angue swears as well. I think she does her own alterations. And she needs a better bra. DP can't look at Carol Kirkwood without commenting on her boobs Hmm

SirChenjin · 26/11/2015 21:15

We get scary Judith - she's utterly bonkers with a very gravelly voice. I think she punishes the very naughty boys after hours, while they beg for forgiveness.

BackforGood · 26/11/2015 21:22

We don't get any evening wear - must be a local thing

QueenLaBeefah · 26/11/2015 21:26

DH and I call Judith from BBC Scotland the dominatrix. Glam to the extreme.

Littlegreyauditor · 26/11/2015 21:49

Ah, Cecilia SkodaLabia. DH and I are convinced she is channelling Zuul from Ghostbusters. It's a look that works for her though.

itsmeohlord · 26/11/2015 21:53

Sian Welby on Channel 5 before Neighbours is just like that - dreadful clothes and awful hair extensions.

Littlegreyauditor · 26/11/2015 21:54

Sorry, DH has just informed me that it is not Zuul, it is in fact Gozer the Gozerian

SkodaLabia · 27/11/2015 06:52

You're right!Grin

VulcanWoman · 27/11/2015 07:00

I was just talking about this yesterday, the ones on sky news, high heels and tight dressers, with full length shots, I'd say the men at the top will be putting that order in Hmm

ceeveebee · 27/11/2015 07:02

My friend is a weather presenter (London) and never wears evening/club wear, just office-smart clothes (on the odd occasion when she's done 'national' she has to wear a jacket as well). I believe they get clothing and makeup allowance

VulcanWoman · 27/11/2015 07:03

There used to be one on the central/midlands weather, can't remember which one now, looked like she was into S&M, used to say "bye bye" in a high pitched voice at the end.

IDismyname · 27/11/2015 07:09

I was just about to be rather rude about one of the weather presenters on the BBC London news slots, until I saw ceevees comment above.

Tell me, which one do you know....?

LadyPenelope68 · 27/11/2015 07:17

We get Paul the weatherman as well and he definitely needs bigger shirts!

ceeveebee · 27/11/2015 07:18

She's itv not bbc so go ahead!

firstdirect · 27/11/2015 07:21

Their clothes always look too tight, totally agree that they look as though they've just popped out from behind the Rovers bar!

Carole thingmy, yes too tight and all boobs.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/11/2015 07:46

Waves to fellow Yorkshire people and thanks OP for updating me with the sartorial choices of our local weather presenters. Grin

Our Sky TV is currently broken and as we have no TV aerial we are managing with what we can get through Now TV, which excludes Look North and Local News and we are having to put up with BBC London instead.

I must show DP. For a man who takes absolutely no interest in his own clothes (he is one of those who goes to the nearest retail park once a year to buy a multipack of M&S pants, some tops and jeans from Matalan, and shorts from Screwfix Direct - yes really, all done in less than an hour) he is strangely obsessed with the clothes worn by Lisa, Keeley and the Blonde in the French Maid's outfit above (Blush really sorry I can't remember her name) and like you, he always cites Carole Kirkwood as Correctly Dressed.
