.....that capital Is do not have dots over them?

As a public service, did you know the dot is actually a "tittle"?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 18/11/2015 14:28

And did you know that I always put a dot over the "i" when I write in capitals unless it's at the start of a word, just because it looks pretty?

Thank you for the PSA though.

BertrandRussell · 18/11/2015 14:31

But it's wrong! How can it look pretty if iit's wrong???

Oh. Good luck with that then. Smile

FellOffMyUnicorn · 18/11/2015 14:50

not a clue what you are talking about - and Google takes me to a tv show from the 1990s - so if you are talking about that then you are a good few years too late to BU and therefore YABU!

if not..... then what are you talking about?

BertrandRussell · 18/11/2015 14:58

I bet you do bubble writing too, Milk.

Unicorn-look up and slightly to the right. Advertisement for a comic for posh kids children's magazine..

www.aquila.co.uk/?gclid=CPaR39admskCFSgFwwodqTsG7Q this perhaps?

it is a great magazine, my DD has had a subscription for a couple of years now & loves it. Perfect christmas present from the grandparents

kippersmum · 18/11/2015 14:59

Thanks Bertrand, I've never been called posh before ;)

HeteronormativeHaybales · 18/11/2015 15:04

I got Aquila for my kids for a bit - they never really enjoyed it. Too worthy and aspirational-educational. The old strapline 'The magazine for children who enjoy challenges' used to make me cringe a little. They get First News now, which they enjoy, and (bilingual) the children's spin-off of a German news magazine, which manages to get the educational-engaging balance just right.

ThatsHowYouGetAnts · 18/11/2015 15:06

Agreed, my DCs also get it, also paid by grandparent Grin

We're not posh. It's just a really good, informative kids' mag.

helenahandbag · 18/11/2015 15:11

I'm 25 and still dot my I's with a circle instead of a dot.

scribblegirl · 18/11/2015 15:21

I thought you were talking about the 1990s kid's TV show about a spaceship found in ancient ruins.

I loved that show

FellOffMyUnicorn · 18/11/2015 15:41

that tv show also does the capital I with a dot.....

maybe its a Roman thing (Aquila is the 2 headed eagle)

Battleshiphips2 · 18/11/2015 15:43

Only the really smart kids will understand why they have put the dot there.

kippersmum · 18/11/2015 23:12

Bumping this for the evening crowd. Not sure why their ad on MN got such a sarky response?!

My DD (9) has Aspergers & Aquila is the only thing she has really got into apart from Harry Potter. It is not biased towards girls, it is equally suitable for boys. My DD loves the non-fiction aspect.

Most 9 yr old girls magazines have billions of pics of fluffy bunnies & old pics of 1D but not much else....

I have no connection to Aquila, but wanted to suggest it to parents of ASD children who are looking for non-fiction options of things to read.
