WWYD? We have a pre planned trip to Disneyland Paris Saturday?

More of a WWYD Grin

Planned trip with DP, DD, DS, and DParents. Flying and staying in one of the Disney hotels, won't be leaving the resort except for journeys from and to the airport.

We've never been before, it's a massive treat for the DC and DPs.

Will lose our money if we don't go. But can't really put a price on our families lives.

Torn between, it's done now so security will be even higher so it will be fine, and not a chance am I risking it.

WWYD?

I'd go without a worry.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 15/11/2015 18:28

I think I'd go. And I'm a scaredy cat.

Security will be sky high just a week after these atrocities, you'll be as safe there as anywhere, I would think. I'd be a bit concerned about the journey - but meh. What are we all going to do? Hide in our houses forever more in fear? That's letting them win.

stoppingbywoods · 15/11/2015 18:31

I wouldn't go. I just wouldn't.

Damselindestress · 15/11/2015 18:31

I understand why you would be concerned. I think it will be safe as security will be increased but you know yourself and your family best and whether the worry would prevent you enjoying the trip.

AliceInUnderpants · 15/11/2015 18:34

If it's open, I would go. Security will be higher than it ever is.

IF you decided to go, have a great time. I am very jealous.

MimiLaBonq1 · 15/11/2015 18:45

I would go.

ilovesooty · 15/11/2015 18:46

I'd certainly go.

Tram10 · 15/11/2015 18:46

Go ! security will be really tight, which hopefully will be reassuring, rather than worrying, so you can enjoy your time there.

srslylikeomg · 15/11/2015 18:47

If it's open I would absolutely go.

trixymalixy · 15/11/2015 18:48

I would go.

Chilledmonkeybrains · 15/11/2015 18:52

We went this summer - they check all bags and you pass through airport style metal detectors. Security will be even higher now. A terrorist would never get through.

You don't say how you're travelling but Eurostar is the same as are airports.

Right now, I'd say you're safer in those areas than walking down Oxord Street.

seasidesally · 15/11/2015 18:56

how far is DLP from Paris centre??

MidnightAura · 15/11/2015 18:57

You should go. I know you will be anxious but as others have said, now is probably the safest time.

Theimpossiblegirl · 15/11/2015 18:59

I would go- security will be really tight and it's not in Paris as such.

Senpai · 15/11/2015 19:00

I'd go. Security will be up, and it might be less crowded due to recent attacks. Win-win. :)

BolshierAryaStark · 15/11/2015 19:00

I'd go, enjoy your trip-it really is fabulous.

EldonAve · 15/11/2015 19:03

I would still go

TheBunnyOfDoom · 15/11/2015 19:11

Yes, go. Security is high at Disneyland anyway, and it'll be even tighter after what's just happened.

The safest time to travel is just after a terrorist attack because everyone is on high-alert, and a lot of people cancel trips.

BananaDaiquiri · 15/11/2015 19:12

If it were my family I would go.

Pseudonym99 · 15/11/2015 19:15

You don't say how you're travelling

The OP said in the opening post that they are flying.

BeyondThirty · 15/11/2015 19:17

I went last month, i would go tomorrow if i had it booked

Bags are (x ray) searched on entry and there are loads of gendarmes patrolling. Odds are you will be safer there than in yur local city centre.

NoSquirrels · 15/11/2015 19:18

You asked WWYD.

I would go without a shadow of a doubt. As others have said, security will be on high alert, and DLP is not the same as the areas which were attacked in Paris.

Added to which, I could not have the conversation with my Dc about evil people killing innocent people and the rest of us having to live in fear of them. That is not a message I am willing to teach my children. There are some situations where giving that message would be warranted - if there were recommendations not to travel, destination had become a war zone or unsafe infrastructure because of the attacks. But none of that applies to DLP.

Enjoy your holiday.

Booyaka · 15/11/2015 19:18

It depends. They found a car today in Montrieul full of ammo and arms used in the shootings. Obviously the people who died in the attacks didn't dump it that far from central Paris. That means that there are probably still some terrorists at large. If they were caught I would probably go. But I'm remembering what happened after Charlie Hebdo where they were chasing them around the country and they tried to get to the airport. I wouldn't take the risk TBH. Perhaps not the risk of being killed, but the risk of large scale disruption and getting stuck somewhere.

I was in France during the summer when there were problems, and I'm afraid it hasn't left me with a very favourable impression of the French's organisation and ability to keep going in a crisis. Wouldn't risk it.

ijustwannadance · 15/11/2015 19:22

We were there last time things happened in paris. They had armed guards around the park entrance and station. Inside parks if someone even left a pram while they went the loo the security were out with the sniffer dogs.

Specialsnowflake1 · 15/11/2015 19:23

I would go without a doubt.
