To say the Beatles music had something for everyone

I didn't like all their songs but that's my point. Some of their music was quite genious, I can't think who can compare today. I think it would be quite hard to dismiss heir music because surely, there is something for everyone. The harmonising between Lennon and McCartney is brilliant and their lyrics had meaning rather than just words set to rhyme, and even now after all these years their music is very relevant. There are so many of their songs I love it's hard to name a favourite.

Nope - can't bear them Grin

TwoSmellyDogs · 12/11/2015 10:54

Can't bear them. Ear grating racket and very samey.

momb · 12/11/2015 10:55

YABU

ShelaghTurner · 12/11/2015 10:58

Another one who can't stand them, as a group or individually. I'd rather sew up my ears than listen to them!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 12/11/2015 11:05

I love The Beatles best band ever

But not all of their lyrics did have meaning I am the Walrus was meant to be nonsense and had no deep hidden meaning neither did Lucy in the Sky with Diamond With Diamonds

Music all samey Confused Love Me Do is so different from A Day In The Life and again to Something or Across the Universe or the b side of Abbey Road

lurkingfromhome · 12/11/2015 11:25

I can't stand them and honestly have never seen what all the fuss is about. Can't see what it is that makes them the supposed genius songwriters they were, either lyrically or musically.

zoobaby · 12/11/2015 11:27

The lyrics are B A D. Did they just write one verse and one chorus for every song? Also don't rate their music. How has their "legend" lasted this long? I don't get them. I think it must have just been the whole teen girl frenzy thing. I dunno.

TempusEedjit · 12/11/2015 11:32

I muttered to DH the other day that The Beatles are overrated shite. Made worse as I live in Merseyside and can't escape seeing their mugs being plastered everywhere.

patterkiller · 12/11/2015 11:39

They were only so successful because of the time they broke into music. It was all so new, no competition.

I don't like their music and can't stand paul McCartney and his ridiculous voice and head wobble.

RusholmeRuffian · 12/11/2015 11:59

They have nothing for me, can't stand them

EastMidsMummy · 12/11/2015 12:00

Ear grating racket and very same samey.

Yes, Love Me Do, For the Benefit of Mr Kite, Blackbird and Revolution sound almost identical.

Clawdy · 12/11/2015 12:02

They were wonderful.

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 12/11/2015 12:04

I can't stand them either but thought I was alone!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 12/11/2015 12:08

That is four songs out of 250+ songs they wrote and recorded

Their is certainly a PM sound to quite a few beatles songs that he was the main writer for

TwoSmellyDogs · 12/11/2015 12:12

They are samey but if it would please your sensibilities I will amend that to a very great many of them are samey Hmm

Of course the same can be said of any band of it's time - they sell by being samey. The difference is that most of the other big selling bands have the good grace to piss off into quiet retirement and not try to fool us into thinking they made some kind of cultural contribution!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 12/11/2015 12:25

Mmm but they have

They have influenced probably at least 80% of popular music artists over the last 50 years from soul to rock to electronic dance to folk music the Beatles influence is everywhere ??

Roseforarose · 12/11/2015 13:29

I do accept a lot won't like them but I wont t accept their music is very samey. Obviously some will sound similar, as do most bands and singers. But something like "Yesterday", Hey Jude, A day in the life, She's leaving home.....opposed to "Love me do, "Please please me, Help, If I fell in love with you"? So different but each brilliant in their own way.
