To think a dark chocolate coated brown rice cake should have less calories than a Jaffa cake not double!

In trying to lose a bit of weight. Bought a packet of 6 dark chocolate brown rice cakes thinking they would be low calorie. However i now see they are 91 calories per cake! Double that of a Jaffa cake!

I assumed dark and brown would be healthier :(

At least the chocolate and carbs will be better than Jaffa's right???!!?

I'm still hungry after them, 12 Jaffa's would of filled me up

carmellasoa · 10/11/2015 14:17

I think you're supposed to eat 1, not the packet...

TwoSmellyDogs · 10/11/2015 14:22

You know what 'thought' did, right?

Grin

Classic marketing technique and you fell for it.

ConstanceMarkYaBitch · 10/11/2015 14:23

Aren't they three times the size? Hmm

SnozBuriedUnderThePatio · 10/11/2015 14:24

I wouldn't call a chocolate rice cake a health food there's probably just as much sugar aswell. Were they not bigger than a jaffa cake though? The big round kallo ones are nice

Stratter5 · 10/11/2015 14:24

But the size difference, unless it was a midget rice cake, there's got to be 4 times the chocolate at least.

Nabootique · 10/11/2015 14:25

Look, it's clearly fate's way of telling you to just have a couple of Jaffa cakes instead of below par substitutes.

BockCadger · 10/11/2015 14:43

They're a snack, not a meal? Grin

MaisieDotes · 10/11/2015 14:45

Have some plain rice cakes and then 1 Jaffa cake.

SnozBuriedUnderThePatio · 10/11/2015 14:49

Melt some jaffa cakes between 2 rice cakes like a smore

carmellasoa · 10/11/2015 14:58

Yes I admit there is a size difference but there is also a air difference. I exoecte about 29 calories tbh

MrsCorbyn · 10/11/2015 15:16

Nope it should have fewer :p HTH

MelanieCheeks · 10/11/2015 15:17

Well a rice cake alone is around 30. And it's a big surface area for chocolate. Hey, every day's a school day!

Mistigri · 10/11/2015 15:56

Why on earth would you waste perfectly good chocolate on something as disgusting and tasteless as a rice cake.

Just eat a couple of squares of dark chocolate ffs!

whois · 10/11/2015 16:13

You ate 6 at 91 calories eaxh and are meant to be loosing a bit of weight??? You don't loose weight by eating 6 chocolate covered rice cakes because you're a bit peckish.

grumpysquash · 10/11/2015 16:38

You could have had a Twix and a Mars bar for the same calories Shock

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 10/11/2015 16:42

This is why many diets don't work. You kid yourself that something is healthy and much of the time it has more calories than the 'unhealthy' alternative.

Seriouslyffs · 10/11/2015 16:48

Double check it's not kilojoules you're reading.

ChippyMinton · 10/11/2015 16:57

Never mind the Jaffa cakes, you could've had a cheeseburger and fries instead.

IjonTichy · 10/11/2015 16:58

Just because it doesn't taste as good as a Jaffa Cake doesn't mean it will have fewer calories. Sadly. As has already been said, there's a lot of chocolate on those things. Eating six in one go is just madness if you're trying to lose weight. Moderation is the key.

Toraleistripe · 10/11/2015 17:06

Plain rice cake with a smear of Nutella. A lot less cals.
