Just watching the blessed Ina doing her 'Barefoot in London' programme, she's making a ploughman's lunch. Classic quote - 'The English do this thing called pork pie, I don't even know what that is!, or sausage in pastry'. In her broad Nu Yoik drawl.

Gawd luv her. She's going to make that bacon sanger with rock hard streaky bacon in a minute...

MitzyLeFrouf · 12/11/2015 11:53

But I bet it looks great. Doesn't it look so great? Jeffrey's gonna love it. He's gonna be so surprised. I wonder if he'll remember the time Ina made him a ploughman's lunch when they were in college in 1968.

CoffeeAndOranges · 12/11/2015 12:11

How bad could that be!! Ahahaha! Actually Ina it looks bone dry as you haven't pit any ketchup on it or buttered the bread, which you have toasted to within an inch or its life so it'll shatter as soon as you put it in your mouth.

They went round Borough Market with Tom Parker-Bowles ('yes his mother is married yo Prince Charles ahahaha') and managed to find a chap on a market stall even posher than Tom. Bizarre tv.

I need to get out more...

I am eating one of Grannys biscuits, from the instructions up thread, they are very nice. Thank you.

Pipbin · 12/11/2015 12:52

Who is this Ina and where are her shoes?

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/11/2015 13:08

I love biscuits and gravy, I make it at home and have never even been to America, I like grits too, and recently tried Hamburger helper.

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2015 17:29

howto I am so glad you are enjoying the biscuits. Smile

Ina Garten lives in the Hamptons and has a cooking show on Food Network called Barefoot Contessa. It's shown in the UK. Her husband is Jeffrey, a Yale professor, who loves everything she cooks.

And yes she did make that bacon butty with streaky bacon. Back bacon is not so easy to find in the US, and according to a poster upthread, would be especially hard to find in the Hamptons.

steff13 · 12/11/2015 17:38

If you ate one in the Northern US, you might be justified in your opinion. Yankees do not know how to make biscuits. This is a well known fact.

You hush! My homemade buttermilk biscuits would melt in your mouth, and I'm Ohio born and raised. :)

MitzyLeFrouf · 12/11/2015 17:44

steff please feel free to bake a fresh batch and have them Fedexed over to me!

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2015 18:08

I believe you steff. My husband is from western NY (near the Ohio border) and he makes pretty good biscuits. So Yankees can be taught. Wink

Want2bSupermum · 12/11/2015 18:25

I have a theory that everything from Ohio tastes good. DH's colleague is married to a lovely lady from Ohio. Her family are awesome and man they can cook. Total Americana food that sticks to ribs and hips.
