It's my DDs favourite tea by miles, she's only 2.5.
I figure if she has a balanced diet every other day then Cheese and beans with toast is fine on a Saturday night.
She has a slice of wholemeal bread, cut into soldiers and then half a tin of beans in a bowl with a little lighter mature cheddar.

Is that OK or should I be hung drawn and quartered? Smile

A roast needs cauliflower cheese so a no cheese on a roast rule is ridiculous.

Toast on the bottom
Then scrambled eggs
Then grated cheese
Then beans

THAT is food of the Gods.

Has it been watching Bambi again? Grin

DD2 often gets beans on toast for tea and she is 13. Never thought of adding cheese, thanks for the recipe idea. I'll do it next time and she'll think her DM has gone all cor-don-bleu Grin

ottothedog · 07/11/2015 18:22

I'm sure its fine. Dd used to love baked beans. Bit 1970s throwback :)

AliciaMayEmory · 07/11/2015 18:24

YANBU. My favourite meal this time of year! Full fat cheese, though as it melts better than low fat cheese!

BigChocFrenzy · 07/11/2015 18:26

YUM and healthy enough. ffs don't ruin it with broccoli !
You can add a little fruit for pud if she has room.

lighter cheese is horribly processed stuff
get full fat strong flavour : its better for you

and for your small person,
slices of raw carrot that she can eat with her fingers (or off her fingers if she pops the middles out)
or cherry tomatoes
or strip of raw pepper
would be great for stirring the beans around Smile

MamaLazarou · 07/11/2015 18:31

Sounds lovely to me.

YouKnowNothingRickGrimes · 07/11/2015 18:33

That's what me, My 5 year old and 20 month old have just had!! I see no issues...

Oysterbabe · 07/11/2015 18:36

All cheese should be full fat. Low fat cheese is an abomination and not better for you.

Cheesymonster · 07/11/2015 18:39

I would have cheese with every meal if I could (and often do) - hence my username Grin

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 07/11/2015 18:43

Why on earth would you worry about your child eating cheese and beans on toast?

Low fat cheese is rank though

DoreenLethal · 07/11/2015 18:44

a - low fat cheese is vile. do not eat this again.
b - beans are veg. So are tomatoes.

HSMMaCM · 07/11/2015 18:46

DH often asks for cheese beano for tea.

WyrdByrd · 07/11/2015 18:46

My DD is 11 and has jacket with cheese and beans (actually has been just beans recently) about once a week - I chuck a bit of salad on the plate with it, or can always do fruit for 'pudding'.

Brioche201 · 07/11/2015 18:46

The only thing I would say is that wholemeal bread, beans and cheese are all high in salt.

Seeyounearertime · 07/11/2015 18:47

Not really worried, my mother made a passing comment thats all.

I love cheesy and beans on toast and I'm actually relieved it seems popular :)

Add some ham under the beans and a dash of scrambled egg on top and its one of DH and my fave fast day suppers Grin

I dream of my two year old eating such an exotic meal!

YANBU, BBOT with cheese is eaten once a week for my own tea. With Tabasco!

ALemonyPea · 07/11/2015 18:53

I'm 35 and have beans on toast for my tea a few times a month, got to have marmite on the toast though.

RoseDog · 07/11/2015 18:55

Cheese beanos are a staple in this house, ds likes them on football training night as he needs something quick and filling!

Trills · 07/11/2015 19:01

Technically that's beans NEAR toast, not beans ON toast.

Which is good. That's as it should be. Otherwise the toast goes soggy.

I just read your post to DH and he is inspired ...
