To come over and watch a wedding video.

Yes I was there on the day and it was lovely.

Yes the millions of photos I saw after were lovely.

However I really really do not need to relive your wedding day a good 6 months after it happend.

Aibu?

I got invited to watch a wedding video. I had been a bridesmaid, spent stupid amounts of my time in the run up to the wedding, spent the day looking after all the other guests, I just couldn't face it.

Chippednailvarnish · 07/11/2015 16:24

I went to a wedding once when amongst other incidents, Bridezilla got near paralytic on pink champagne whilst we were give Lambrini got on a table a pulled her dress up over her head to show the groom what he was going to get later that night.

I would pay to watch their video!!!

razmataz · 07/11/2015 16:31

I was at a friend's house once and they put on a home video of their last family holiday. It was incredibly dull.

Unfortunately it wasn't mentioned beforehand so there was no option to decline gracefully.

AnnPerkins · 07/11/2015 16:32

We were invited to a neighbour's for drinks once and ended up sitting through a slide show of Japanese knotweed photos.

It wasn't even their knotweed.

violetsarentblue · 07/11/2015 16:44

We were invited to watch a wedding video a few years ago.
It was the most boring 2 but felt like 10 hours of my life.

Sorry Blush

Pancakeflipper · 07/11/2015 16:49

I was bridesmaid at one and the video viewing compulsory.
There was cringy moment when as the wedding party had photos done, the video recording and the sister and cousin of mother-of-the-bride could be heard slagging off mother-of-the-bride about her entire outfit on the video.

MudCity · 07/11/2015 16:50

Sounds dire. YANBU!

MrsUltra · 07/11/2015 16:51

It wasn't even their knotweed.
This has to get the prize!
And slides - you always knew you in for a core-fest when those came out.

reni2 · 07/11/2015 16:52

A slide show of Japanese Knotweed Grin Grin

Mintyy · 07/11/2015 16:52

Yes, AnnPerkins - you definitely win!!

fastdaytears · 07/11/2015 16:53

Chipped if you ever do get to see that then maybe make us a copy...

Moonax · 07/11/2015 16:54

I'm trying to imagine the invitiation to the Japanese Knotweed Show. Must have been very tempting to retaliate with Dandelions We Have Crushed.

MrsUltra · 07/11/2015 16:59

Thinking about it - maybe it was a too-subtle hint to you and your DH - they didn't have any pics of pampas grass (?) and were too discreet to plant in their garden, and the JK, an ineradicable plant was to indicate their- ahem - endurance and vigour? Grin

reni2 · 07/11/2015 17:02

Moonax this could result in an arms race Grin

BeanGirls · 07/11/2015 17:21

It depends.

My sil invited me over for drinks which ended up being a viewing of her cousins wedding video. Longest hour and half of my life. Lots of pausing and rewinding. Could not have given less of a fuck.

My dsister and dfriend had a viewing for theirs and I loved every minute.

ppandj · 07/11/2015 17:38

OP, ya definitely nbu if you ask me!
I was moh for a friend and when she invited me to watch the video I thought it was weird. When we sat down to watch it she actually said "be prepared to cry"! I didn't really understand why I should watch it, when I had been at the wedding and remembered it, but I do love her dearly so I pretended to be moved by it and gushed about her dress etc.

AcrossthePond55 · 07/11/2015 17:39

The invite wasn't for this specifically, but years ago during coffee & dessert at a dinner party we were shown pictures taken at the hostess's recently deceased mother's wake and burial. Open casket and all.

The hostess is a lovely woman and I think she was just not thinking right.

TheoriginalLEM · 07/11/2015 17:41

For some reason this puts me in mind of "The good life" where they had to go and watch their awful neighbour's slide show of their holiday.

I would rather pull my toenails off, one by one than do that!!

Loula117 · 07/11/2015 17:47

I haven't even seen my OWN wedding video. I didn't really want one, but my uncle insisted on filming it. He gave me a DVD but I've never watched it! (My wedding was lovely, I was there though...)

DesertIslandPenguin · 07/11/2015 17:59

My Mum and Dad once did the holiday slideshow at a dinner party. I must have been around eight and a very unwilling waitress!!

milkmilklemonade12 · 07/11/2015 18:06

it wasn't even their knotweed

Grin Grin Grin

Oh that has to win a prize! Hahaha!

Talkmeoutofthis222 · 07/11/2015 18:10

Well whose knotweed was it?!

I want to know, and hope for an invitation!

Yellowbird54321 · 07/11/2015 18:13

"be prepared to cry" Grin

Talkmeoutofthis222 · 07/11/2015 18:21

I could cry over knotweed.

A proper daily mail sad face at that!

Hereisnownotthen · 07/11/2015 18:37

This is a thing now?!?!

I just think it is completely narcisstic and utterly self obsessed to expect anyone to watch such a thing!
