People have been letting them off for over a week now. I'm sitting in my house and it sounds like the Battle of Britain is going on outside, mainly thanks to one neighbour who thinks it's ace to let off very powerful fireworks. I really hate it, my nerves are shot and if it's anything like last night, it'll be midnight before they stop.

YANBU. We've had random, one off explosions for over a week now and my poor dog has taken to living under the bed after dark.

megletthesecond · 06/11/2015 20:01

Yanbu. Bloody dangerous and a nightmare for pets.

chipsandpeas · 06/11/2015 20:03

my dog is sitting here near enough shitting himself, been the same for the past 2 weeks

one night i could cope with but the best past of 2 weeks pisses me off

coffeeisnectar · 06/11/2015 20:04

Yanbu.

And most of these huge fireworks are being let off in tiny gardens when you are supposed to have a considerable space to do so safely.

My cat is out, fireworks going off everywhere and I've tried calling him loads but he's not come back. Hope he's holed up safely somewhere.

We are going to our neighbours firework party tmorrow....but as yet, I haven't heard one single firework. It's been very very quiet here.

SoupDragon · 06/11/2015 20:06

Meh.

My dog is currently snoring happily in the armchair.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 06/11/2015 20:07

It sounds as bad as it did yesterday here at the minute. I've been fervently cursing the lot of them for the past hour and a half. I have a toddler in bed with ear defenders on, four petrified cats and an eight year old with ASD who is too hyper to sleep because his room is a window to a sparkly world.

AlpacaPicnic · 06/11/2015 20:07

I completely agree. They are dangerous things in the wrong hands and there is little to prevent any idiot deciding to buy them and use them irresponsibly. Plus, is it me or they getting more powerful and explosive every year? Not just a few rockets and sparklers these days, everyone seems to set off huge 'sets'.

Organised displays only, or people should have to pass some sort of exam and have a license to set them off...

BoomChickenSoup · 06/11/2015 20:08

Displays should be restricted by licenses and times/days. It's complete madness out there and it will go on and on and on now until after the new year.

purplefizz26 · 06/11/2015 20:09

Yanbu. It is ridiculous these days, instead of just on Bonfire Night, people seem to set them off during the week before and after!?

It also worries me that any idiot can go and buy a load of fireworks and set them off where ever they please.

I think having only properly organised displays is the way forward.

ChristmasZombie · 06/11/2015 20:10

I feel the same.
I love fireworks, and bonfire night in general, but I really think organised displays should be the only option.

goodnightdarthvader1 · 06/11/2015 20:11

I also feel the same. Organised displays in public parks, etc. = totally cool.

Getting subjected to a barrage from drunk neighbours = fucking annoying.

3sugarsplease · 06/11/2015 20:11

Every time fireworks go off.. My dogs poo in the kitchen...

The fireworks have been going off for the last week Angry

daisychain1991 · 06/11/2015 20:12

I feel the same. Just got my DD 7months off to sleep (for the blissful 2/3 hours before she wakes) and my next door neighbours start letting off the fire works. Cue one very startled baby and an hour long hysterics while I try and sooth her.

Sirzy · 06/11/2015 20:12

It's the size of the ones for home use that really scares me. The ones that say they need to be 50m away from home/fence yet how many people actually follow those instructions, or have a garden which allows it?

howabout · 06/11/2015 20:13

YANBU

BikeRunSki · 06/11/2015 20:14

I agree this is why.

RandomMess · 06/11/2015 20:15

I too think only for licenced displays on certain nights of the year.

My animals aren't bothered but I just think they are so much more dangerous than people realise.

I'm sure my German friend says they are only legal there on New Years Eve?

ALemonyPea · 06/11/2015 20:17

YANBU.

I can't understand the need for them to be on sale for so long. If people do need to let them off, they should only be allowed to do it the appropriate nights.

My dog has been terrified the past few weeks, we live opposite a big field and the idiotic teens have been letting them off ever since they went on sale.

coffeeisnectar · 06/11/2015 20:18

Exactly sirzy I'm just relieved it's been pouring with rain for the last few days. I have visions of our sheds going up in flames. This is a small cul-de-sac and there's about 5 houses with them going off. I don't mind the smaller whizzy ones, but the ones that sound like a bomb really shouldn't be in the hands of just anyone.

We are going to an organised display tomorrow. And I can't understand how people afford to buy them either!

BockCadger · 06/11/2015 20:20

I agree. Mainly because of those shitting teenagers who think it's hilarious to play with them on the streets. I remember absolutely hating the week surrounding bonfire night in school because some dickhead always set them off at home time outside the gates Angry

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 06/11/2015 20:24

I live on the edge of a city. It won't stop here now until New Years. I hate the bloody things, one nearly hit me in the face as a girl as it went off course, so I jump as much as the poor dog as they go off. Certainly should only be at organised events, really don't understand how such dangerous things are availabe so easily to anyone Angry.

ShamelessBreadAddict · 06/11/2015 20:26

Yanbu

ginmakesitallok · 06/11/2015 20:27

Yanbu. They were (are?) Illegal in northern Ireland, can only be used at licensed events.

CremeEggThief · 06/11/2015 20:28

YANBU. Annoying, noisy and dangerous.
