to think this is another scandalous spending of public money (education) to line the pockets of Tory cronies.

This is how the government want to spend public money to raise standards in education- by giving it to academy chains to line the pockets of the academy chain executives and governors , meanwhile they have cut school budgets in state schools and made it even harder for Headteachers to properly resource schools with appropriate staff.

It is a disgrace that public money is being spent on this whilst the state education system is being dismantled and destroyed at every turn. Children are being put under enormous and unnecessary pressures and inhumane pointless testing which does nothing to improve their skills and standards, self-esteem and engagement in learning.

But hey, let's pay one of Mr Cameron's cronies £500,000 from Education funding.

£5million to academy chains - one of whom, Outwood Grange, worked closely with an 'outstanding' Northumberland school - Cramlington Learning Village- to turn it into an academy and it is now in Special Measures as a failing school. The plan is probably for Outwood Grange to take over Cramlington Learning Village and be paid hundreds of thousands to improve a school it helped become a failing school.

Education in England is on the brink of a complete crisis because of government policy and actions like this.

YANBU. But it's been going on for the last 5 years, it's not new.

There are so few academies in Northumberland and North Tyneside that the government is now targetting them. In our isolation from it all, whilst I was aware of academy chains and the lack of integrity and danger of their behaviours and that the government funnels monies to them, I had no idea individuals were earning the kind of sums stated in that article. It is immoral.
Why are their governors paid? State school governors are not?
