To call my twins Kensington and Chelsea even though we can barely afford to rent in Enfield

Ive always liked the name Chelsea but when I found out we were having twins I thought this would be a genius idea. My family is originally from around there (grandparents and great grandparents lived there) but its way too expensive for me these days.

Dh thinks its a bad idea but I'm really keen on it.

I have actually met a couple who called their twin boys Jack and Daniel

PaulAnkaTheDog · 03/11/2015 14:34

Right, if you are serious op then you can use one of the names (preferably Chelsea) but not both. It would be cringey and your children will not thank you for it.

Comfort and Febreeze? sure it wasn't Comfort and Fabrice?
Comfort is a very common name, and you've never heard of Fabrice Muamba? Fabrice is a French name, I've worked with people with both names, a Nigerian lady and a French guy.

ljrenf · 03/11/2015 14:43

But Thames isnt even a name!

I'm still quite keen on the original to be honest. I do think I may have to give one of them up tbh. Posted this on a few forms for balance.

I'm originally from Humberside so If I had twins I would call them Scunthorpe and Grimsby.

Chippednailvarnish · 03/11/2015 14:47

Well if your going for Ken for a boy, how about Deirdre for a girl.

Then only older people will snigger at them...

ShamefulPlaceMarker · 03/11/2015 14:48

Confusedinbath I don't know why I think that when I hear the name..... Maybe someone was called it on Corrie?

Dazoo · 03/11/2015 14:50

You could call them Cunt and Grim for short, NerrSerr.

hairbrushbedhair · 03/11/2015 15:16

I don't think it's ever a good idea to name twins along the same theme such as 2 places, 2 biblical names, 2 flowers, 2 similar sounding or same letter starting or same syllables etc

Chelsea is fine on its own, put it with Kensington and it becomes chavvy and comical. Partner it with some other name such as 'Jack, Sam, Theodore' - it's fine

SquirrelledAway · 03/11/2015 15:21

Thames can be a name if you want it to be (I think on MN anything can be a name if you want it to be).

Although if going for a rivers theme I would favour Dee and Don.

redcaryellowcar · 03/11/2015 15:40

What's wrong with topsy and Tim?

ShamefulPlaceMarker · 03/11/2015 15:43

Was the ginger kid in corrie called Chulseh?

ShamefulPlaceMarker · 03/11/2015 15:43

Or is it Ashleh I'm thinking of and not Chelseh at all?

AvaCrowder · 03/11/2015 15:45

Love it OP!

hairbrushbedhair · 03/11/2015 16:16

Isn't it Chesney you're thinking of shameful?

Inertia · 03/11/2015 16:21

If we're doing rivers then I'd go for Ribble and Ouse.

Narp · 03/11/2015 16:31

I always faced Dollis Hill (girl, obviously), and Willesden (boy)

Dolly and Willy for short

Narp · 03/11/2015 16:31

Oooops! MASSive error,. Should have read Dollis-Hill

ComposHatComesBack · 03/11/2015 17:11

but if the boy was called ken no one would even know the connection.

Except they would.

Even if they didn't, it would leave you with an even bigger problem: your baby would be called Ken. I repeat a baby known as Ken.

Kens are not babies, Kens are jovial late middle aged coach drivers with mutton chop sideburns who go to line dancing.

ShamefulPlaceMarker · 03/11/2015 17:13

hairbrush yes it is! Thanks!
Not helpful to op Hmm

magimedi · 03/11/2015 17:16

Compos - I love the idea of your Ken!

QueenOfToast · 03/11/2015 17:22

Elstree and Borehamwood might hit the right note if you don't think you'll be upwardly mobile enough for Kensington and Chelsea.
