To call my twins Kensington and Chelsea even though we can barely afford to rent in Enfield

Ive always liked the name Chelsea but when I found out we were having twins I thought this would be a genius idea. My family is originally from around there (grandparents and great grandparents lived there) but its way too expensive for me these days.

Dh thinks its a bad idea but I'm really keen on it.

Originalmavis - I actually know someone with a Beau and a Belle! Not twins though. We're not in London so maybe she hasn't made the connection..

Reading to dh (who is unappreciative as he is working) and he suggests
Chance and community chest

PastaLaFeasta · 04/11/2015 10:04

Richmond and Kingston for two boys perhaps.

Kensington and Barbican = Ken and Barbie.

(Hope this is a wind up and if not the message is clear - this is a bad idea)

Tigger365 · 04/11/2015 10:16

bunbaker I was thinking exactly the same thing. I suspect we aren't too far away from each other.
OP...you have baby brain, those names are ridiculous. It may as well be salt and pepper

Bunbaker · 04/11/2015 11:49

Some great ideas here Grin

Went to school with twins- jack and daniel

GoneAndDone · 04/11/2015 19:55

Or Barnet and Endfield, more in your price bracket...

Jhm9rhs · 04/11/2015 22:06

Obviously this is an amusing thread, and I'm not sure if you were ever serious, but as a mum of twins I would urge you to give them individual names. They can complement each other in style etc but they shouldn't be a matched set!

Lweji · 04/11/2015 22:14

Yeah, because Kensington would be fine by itself.

florentina1 · 04/11/2015 23:23

My twins have individual names Cillit for my DD and Bang for my DS

tywinlannister · 04/11/2015 23:26

Pffft. Poor show for an old Enfieldian.

You should be looking at Ponders and End. Freezy and Water. Krispy and Kreme. Lenny and Tramp.*

*Sorry. This might go over peoples heads. Its a local joke for local people Wink

NicoleWatterson · 05/11/2015 08:14

Tywin I was trying to think of one to go with Eros Wink
I did suggest Carter, hatch and subsequent sibling Lane. But I'm not sure anyone got it.
I'm loving your work!!

Lweji · 05/11/2015 08:31

There's always Queen and Park too.

Flossiesmummy · 05/11/2015 08:45

OP - I always imagine my children going to a job interview and introducing themselves. You want your child to be remembered for their intelligence, wit, accomplishments etc rather than a name that raises an eyebrow.

People are by nature judgemental - unfortunately people are going to make jokes over names that they can mine humour from. My surname is Bullock - I should know! HmmHmm

There has been tons of research done that suggests children with traditional, dare I say 'sensible' names are perceived as more capable than children of equal intelligence with 'unique', made up, or less traditional names.

Maybe if you're set on those names, set them as middle names.

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 05/11/2015 09:10

I assumed it was a joke thread too. I know it hurts, ljrenf, but isn't it better to get an honest reaction now than to get ShockConfusedGrin behind your back later?

Pastamancer · 05/11/2015 10:06

Delores and Gareth shortened to Dilli and Gaf?

Lweji · 05/11/2015 10:36

I know it hurts, ljrenf

Something tells me ljrenf is not hurt at all...

Tywinlannister · 05/11/2015 13:55

Nicole An EROS reference on mumsnet! This thread has made my day!
