To ask if anyone who has a braun handblender can check the plug for me?

Hi all,
If anyone here has a uk spec braun handblender, I would be so grateful if you could check the plug for me and tell me if it is earthed or not. If it is earthed the top pin should be metal. Most of my wired plugs also show a diagram of the wires on the underneath.
Background: I have bought a braun multi quick handblender online. Annoyingly it came with an EU 2 pin plug. To return it and buy from a different seller will cost me a lot more.
I think its only worth doing this if the uk plug is earthed, otherwise I will just use an adapter and change to a uk plug when warranty is up.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Mine is 20 years old and all the pins are metal

I've fairly recently replaced mine. I'll check for you shortly.

I have the Braun Tribute Collection Multiquick 1 hand blender. Bought it about 5 months ago. Just checked, top pin is plastic. Great little machine - hope you get yours working OK!

Bruffin 20 years is good going. My old one was the bottom of the range and lasted 15 years but my OH dropped it onto a hard floor recently and that killed it.

Brainrack - thanks for that.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone with a high wattage model - the one we've got it a 600 watt motor. Its the mq 535.

Clicked on the thread because I have the Braun Multiquick 500 (detachable foot and pistol style handle), but like yours it's a European 2 pin plug.

I got around it by buying a shaver adapter plug (see pic) which is about half the price of a travel adapter. £1.99 at wilko. I felt better doing that because the original wiring is all encased and a DIY job might not be waterproof.

AdaptOr, sorry!

This is mine. There's obviously a European 2 pin plug inside, but the UK plug has a metal top pin and fuse. It's at least 600W. This is how it came (bought within the last 6 months).

Ooh, disappointed that's a weird plug. I'm wondering what the earth pin is wired into since an eu 2 pin has no earth. You need an EU round plug for that.

disappointed can I ask where you got yours from? It seems that the plug on yours is basically an eu plug with a type of adapter.

Just because the top pin is metal doesn't mean there is an earth wire connected to it!
I have a power saw (Black & Decker Scorpion) a good few years old that came like Disappointed's (two pin plug in an adaptor thing) but the top pin was plastic and it snapped off in the socket - meant the live and neutral were 'open' so live (like the problem with safety socket covers) ...I haven't got round to replacing it so I push it in first - but I could easily not noticed when it happened - left a socket unsafe for DCs ...all metal would have been better.

I've looked at my braun blender (years old) and top pin is metal and the plug is a sealed unit so you can't see the wiring. It does have the earthed symbol on the plug but the wire doesn't look thick enough...

Amazon, I think.
