I am going for an informal 'chilli night' at a friend's house tonight with a few others. Normally I would take wine or beer but I don't have any in, plus I'm not planning to drink myself and I know others will bring alcohol. Wibu to take a big tub of Haagen Dazs as my contribution instead? I could go to the shop on the way, but don't really want to. Do you think ice cream is ok? Thanks

I should add that I'm not in the UK, so 'tonight' is in about half an hour's time Grin

i think ice cream in October is a weird thing to bring. You're not drinking alcohol but I'm guessing you will need to bring something to drink? Get a few bottles of fizzy elderflower juice or something...

Pancakeflipper · 24/10/2015 11:19

Take it.

LemonRedwood · 24/10/2015 11:20

If someone brought a big tub of haagen dazs round my house at any time, they would be my best friend forever.

I think it's fine. Just make sure there'ok be enough for everyone.

myotherusernameisbetter · 24/10/2015 11:20

Ice-cream will be fine :) I am sure they have invited you for your company and not your contribution anyway.

Will they have enough room in the freezer for it do you think or will it stay frozen until you've finished the main event?

LemonRedwood · 24/10/2015 11:20

*there'll

Epilepsyhelp · 24/10/2015 11:20

Gotta love ice cream. If your friends will enjoy it and you're not drinking alcohol then take it!

DoreenLethal · 24/10/2015 11:21

There is never a situation where ice cream isn't welcome, so take it.

Pancakeflipper · 24/10/2015 11:21

It is a new tub isn't it? Not half eaten.

You aren't my 'friend' who came to an evening at ours with cheese, one piece had teeth marks in it?

ShamefulUsername · 24/10/2015 11:22

Take the ice cream. Or stay in and eat the ice cream. Or send the ice cream to me Smile

PollyCazaletWannabe · 24/10/2015 11:22

Yes Grin a new tub!

Hmm. I could buy soft drinks to take but that would also mean going to the shop

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 24/10/2015 11:24

Ice cream is great.

SweetTeaVodka · 24/10/2015 11:30

I'd love it if someone bought ice cream round to mine for a night in!

Junosmum · 24/10/2015 11:38

Oh yes, i'd be very happy with that

waxweasel · 24/10/2015 11:39

Don't take soft drinks - that is just making a real point of 'I'm not planning on drinking'. Unless you were pregnant and brought your own non alcoholic beers or something, I'd find that weird.

Bringing ice cream would be amazing :)

grumpysquash · 24/10/2015 11:41

Yes take it, as long as it's not already open.

RealHuman · 24/10/2015 11:42

It's chilli. Ice cream is perfect.

Gileswithachainsaw · 24/10/2015 11:43

take it.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 24/10/2015 11:44

Just check they have room in the freezer.

I would bloody love it if someone brought ice cream round to my house. Although I agree with grumpy, not if it's been opened!

yeOldeTrout · 24/10/2015 12:22

Sounds lovely to me :)

PollyCazaletWannabe · 24/10/2015 13:41

I took the ice cream in the end :) thanks everyone
