Should have picked different hymns at his mothers funeral than the 2 we had at our wedding? Honestly it's not often I'm lost for words but on this occasion I was.

We sang Dear Lord and Father at my wedding and I chose it 5 years later for my grandmothers funeral. I remembered how happy my wedding day had made her, and she watched the video of it daily for about 4 years and always sang along with that hymn so it seemed a nice tribute. I'd have been gobsmacked if my husband had reacted as you did!

It obviously was a bit of a shock to you though, and sounds as though he didn't choose it for positive reasons...

If she hated you and your kids were barely acknowledged then I guess you could be forgiven for wondering why you bothered to go at all.

The music is no big deal in the end. The hymns I chose for our wedding were favourites of mine. There's a good chance that if asked about hymns for a funeral they would be my suggestions.
