SPORTS DIRECT RETURNS POLICY IS RIDICULOUS!

So, about a month ago I brought three pairs of shoes for my children from Sports Direct Online. When they arrived, one of them was completely the wrong size to which I had ordered and the other was damaged so I decided to return all three shoes via distribution. I made sure that I noted that I wanted the money back onto my debit card on the return slip, however, they returned all the money back onto a store voucher. I don't usually shop in sports direct, it really was a one off and now I'm stuck with this stupid voucher. When I emailed customer service, they said that there is nothing they can do now as it is on a voucher and they can't return the voucher for money! When I called up, one of the representatives basically told me that it's my fault for returning all of the shoes. I can't believe this, it's absurd. Not all the shoes were a change of mind, I'm not at fault and now I'm out of pocket because I had to pay a TWO delivery charges. I had a few of cases like this with sports direct but I thought it would be different if I brought online... obviously not.

Did you make it clear that the items were effectively faulty/unfit for purpose? If they are, then you're entitled to a full refund under the Distance Selling Regs (they've changed the name now but the same principle applies). If you returned the whole order they should refund your initial delivery charge too, as well as your costs for returning them (on production of a receipt).

Fairly sure distance selling rules apply and they shoukd refund you.

You could Email them back and tell them that you are getting Trading Standards involved because you are entitled to your money back on the grounds that they failed to fulfil your order.

I would start a paper trail immediately.

Complain to Trading Standards.

Sports Direct are within their rights to have a crappy policy of no refunds on returns that are because of a change of mind but the situation you describe is that the goods were faulty so you should get a refund.

And it seems that Twitter can be good for this if you can condense to 140 characters? Hmm

Disgusting!

I bought DS a pair of trainers there last year, he wore them 3 times before they started coming apart, unfortunately I didn't have the receipt but I paid for them with my credit card, they were very sniffy about it and would only offer me an exchange, which thankfully was all I wanted (just didn't get that particular make again) but I'm sure they should have offered me my money back given they were faulty. I may be wrong though. It's made me wary about using them and when I do I make sure I keep the receipts.

If something is damaged they have to give the money back.

Why did you start your own thread plus resurrect two dead ones over this?

I'd have sympathy for you if you hadn't turned AIBU into a zombie thread minefield full of Sports Direct threads from years ago.

YABU. Purely on that basis, YABU.

I had a big row with sports direct not long ago.

Bought something off website. It was misdescribed. I had to go back to them 4 times to get a full refund, including delivery, and had to quote the sale of goods act at them. Eventually they refunded in full. I have no doubt they only do this for customers who get bolshy with them, and just hope the others give up.

Total Cowboys.

I was with you until I have seen the resurrected threads.

Get a life OP. What happened is not the end of the world. Threaten them with trading standards and be done with it!

You've resurrected 7 bloody threads on Sports Direct OP! It's really not in the spirit of MN in my opinion and it's annoying because they clog up active threads.

I bought 3 pairs of pool shoes from SD at the weekend.
I have changed my mind.
At no time was I told I can only get a voucher or credit.
Only noticed on back of receipt once they had rung my purchase through.

Pah. Wont shop with them again.

OP, give 'em hell.

I'd never heard of Sports Direct until yesterday and now I'm seeing their name loads.

It's like when someone on Glastonbury Tor told me Jeff Buckley was going to save the world. Suddenly I saw Jeff Buckley everywhere. I even found out him and I shared a birthday...
