To wonder why people refer to a GHD as GHDs?

Just wondering why people refer to a GHD hair straightener as "GHDs" rather than "GHD". Or "hair straighteners" rather than the singular form.

Isn't it just one appliance?

I had a friend years ago who would talk about a 'pair of bras' meaning one bra.

She insisted she was right because it has two cups.

Or a pair of trousers. Yes there's two legs but it's one garment...

I thought it was because it stood for Good Hair Days (plural)......for the price, I'd want more than a single day of good hair
