To be fuming with this supermarket?

I've name changed because this is quite

On Monday Ds lost his prepaid kids debit card in Our local supermarket. I went to customer service to see if it had been handed in. It had so I showed Id, wrote down my name and address, signed for it and left.

What I didn't know was that I had been told to write it in the wrong place and had signed for some cash that had been found instead. So then the person who lost the cash comes to claim it and is told I've already claimed it and is shown my name and address and told to phone the police.

I found out today from a friend that I was being accused of stealing this money. So I go to the supermarket, they admit it what happened straight away and get the police to come so they can let the person who's money it was know I hadn't claimed it. The money was still in the safe.

I don't like people thinking I'm a thief. The person who's money it was could have come to my house and done anything.

BojackHorseman · 21/10/2015 18:02

The OP's posts were not difficult to understand.

Sixpencenonethericher · 21/10/2015 18:03

Don't blame her I'm troublesome

Sparklingbrooksbrother · 21/10/2015 18:03

Sparkling doesn't need a sister. Smile

sparkling Grin

GobShites · 21/10/2015 18:05

Wow! I'm really shocked at the nastiness of some posters!

If you don't believe the OP then report it but there is really no reason to tear apart the OP's account. It doesn't matter if you can't imagine the situation happening, the OP has said it happened she shouldn't have to justify herself. I really can't understand why people some people have to post registering their disbelief, it's so rude!

FWIW OP I think you're NBU and the supermarket were wrong to give out your name and address and I'd definitely complain.

tibbawyrots · 21/10/2015 18:06

I found some glasses in Asda last week.

SuburbanRhonda · 21/10/2015 18:07

Yes, but has anyone ever seen sparkling and her brother in the same room at the same time?

Good grief is that you Edna?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 21/10/2015 18:09

Is it Sister Week on Mumsnet? Grin

Fuminglikeafumingthing · 21/10/2015 18:10

I've found my glasses now by the way. I probably should have looked at what I was signing more closely but that still doesn't excuse them giving out my name and address.

Sixpencenonethericher · 21/10/2015 18:12

No they were at fault

LizzieMacQueen · 21/10/2015 18:12

(completely not the point) but how lovely that you live somewhere people hand in cash and preloaded cash cards. I am quite jealous OP.

ginslinger · 21/10/2015 18:14

I used to call my sister Elsie to annoy her -

Debinaround · 21/10/2015 18:16

I understand you op. Smile

My sister is on MN. I don't know her user name but she knows mine.

SuburbanRhonda · 21/10/2015 18:16

Hey, I've found some glasses too!

Oh hang on, they're mine and they're on my face Grin

Fuminglikeafumingthing · 21/10/2015 18:17

Dp once found £50 in the self scan machine and handed it in in the same supermarket. No one could have used Ds's card anyway it's chip and pin and blocked for online purchases.

@Chilli&Mint I no longer get cash back from check out points because I always forget to collect it. I've been lucky in that someone has always called me back for it or given it to customer services but I know my luck will run out. They need to emit a loud buzz until you retrieve the cash IMO.

Fairenuff · 21/10/2015 18:27

I think OP is taking the ribbing in good spirits. She seems to have a sense of humour. And so does her sister now that she's got the swearing out of the way Grin

Sixpencenonethericher · 21/10/2015 18:29

I know I feel bad about that
